I bought BAROQUE SYNDROME on Steam to support Sting, despite already having it on PS1. I hope this encourages them to publish more of their titles here. Even if they don't localize them, many international fans can read Japanese and are eager to buy these classics!12 found this helpful
Baroque: Distorted pearls. A style of art that once prevailed. Disharmony, excess, confusion. Once upon another time. Age means change. Meanings change with age. This is the age of Great Heat. This is the world it destroyed. Baroque: Distorted delusions is the age of Great Heat. This is the world it destroyed. Baroque: Distorted delusions. In this land of devastation, don't let go of your illusions. Should you hope to survive, hold Baroque inside. Hold Baroque inside. ---------------------------- This is a Visual Novel that serves as a prequel to Baroque, it was first released on PS1 and later ported to Android/iOS. Unfortunately this is Japanese only, hopefully we can get an official or fan translation made available at some point. The price point is great, it has achievement support, and the music/visuals are fantastic. This is truly a classic series that I love seeing on Steam, hopefully Baroque follows. (The above copy is from the Saturn release of Baroque, I just felt like including it)11 found this helpful
I was so trilled to see this game on here randomly as I didn't think that there would be many classic Sound Novel ports on Steam. Like a lot of Sound Novels from this era, you have multiple scenarios contained in one longer narrative and you make dialogue choices that effect what branches you take. Also, you have to beat the game several times to unlock more dialogue choices which change the scenarios (I think sometimes it's pre-determined at the start of the game what major story you're going to have) and flesh out more parts of the world and scenario so the replay value is pretty high. It's a mobile port unfortunately so the controls are atrocious if you use a keyboard and the buttons are fixed, so thank you for controller and mouse support. The only downside (not for me since I'm fluent in Japanese) is that it's only in Japanese so it's pretty limited in reach as to how many people can play the game and enjoy the story. I don't know why they put a Japanese only release on an majority English speaking platform, but I get that it would cost them too much money to translate compared to the expected return on such a niche genre, so it was probably cheaper to just clean up the game a…10 found this helpful

This visual novels adapts the original Baroque Prequel stories "BAROQUISM▲SYNDROME" and "Baroque Interludium". It wasn't made by the original author so it leads to conflicting lore with the "Baroque (1998)" game for the Sega Saturn. However the remake of the original Baroque (the 2007 version) does follow this adaptation, so if you want to get into that, then do give this a read. It's a shame it's only in Japanese and there is no English translation. I bought it to support the developers in hopes to get a proper translation. So please Sting, make it happen <34 found this helpful
Nice game, doesn’t take long to finish, Interesting story and visual, I’d recommend to anyone who’s into other BAROQUE games or a fan of dark VNs. Alas, there is no english release yet, hopefully one day, but as for now, you can find translations of the PS1 game somewhere on the web3 found this helpful
