Scenes from the Heart - Part 1

Linear visual novel with voiced but small cast of characters, and a brief runtime that makes it feel too pricey. The game runs on a well-known engine commonly used in many indie visual novels. There’s very little customization, so the main menu and its options look just like any other game built on the same engine. On the upside, it includes all the essential features you want in a visual novel, such as the ability to save at any time and to skip text you’ve already seen. Of course, skipping is only useful on a second playthrough, as using it the first time defeats the purpose of experiencing the story. The story casts you as a game designer who has just won an award for the best game demo, securing funding to complete your project. Before you can get started, a reporter approaches for an interview. The first question is about how it all began and how you met your two partners. First is Chisaki, a serious girl who had to toughen up after being bullied for having two differently colored eyes. Then there’s Konaka, a bubbly artist of lewd images who is excited about everything. Romance is part of the story: Chisaki has been hiding her feelings because you’ve been friends for years,…

I played the original pre-release cut, but it was very enjoyable even then. There were a lot of things that made me laugh and I think overall I like most of the cast. The voice-acting for every character that isn't the player was a super nice touch, though I will admit that I'd have liked to see even silhouettes of the people talking that weren't the main cast. The art is very nice, the music's cheery, and both Chisaki and Konaka's VAs brought a lot of life to their characters. I'm looking forward to part 2 at some point; I've heard Zamius has a lot of plans for the next part already. Hope we get to see more of the cast in the future, this one's worth checking out if you like visual novels!

Cute little game made by an up and coming indie dev! Can't wait for part 2

Very cute game. I remember playing the original version and liking it which was the first time ever playing a visual novel. Replaying it but as the demo was fun. I would recommend getting the full game if you're interested. :)
