About A Summer in Our Hearts
A Summer in Our Hearts is a slice of life visual novel set to explore the life of three young adults, each from a very different background with very different personalities, and how they deal with their personal struggles. Each is trying to put their best foot forward and find their own way towards happiness. Help each other along the way, or stand by and watch as they go on their separate path. Create bonds that last for a lifetime, or walk away to build your own life. Will a short summer, away in a foreign town in the middle of nowhere, enough to push your way towards happiness?

This review will be heavily spoilered as I talk a lot about the story and how it made me feel, especially the ending. Please go and experience the game for yourself, it's well, well worth it. This is my first visual novel and, to be honest, I only gave it a chance because I love rythae's work so much. I'm so, so glad I did because, even after just one ending, I can confidently say this is my favourite game of all time, as no other game has had anywhere near as strong of an effect on me. I can't comment much on Akemi, as I took the Sayuri route that meant Akemi had little impact on me
, although her powerful, if a little aggressive, pep talk and advice towards the end of the game was nice, but it definitely wasn't my highlight from the game
. To be honest, having seen images and screenshots before the release, I knew Sayuri was the character I liked most, and playing the game only reinforced this. I love her bright, bubbly personality and found her to be an incredibly engaging and fun character to talk to. I also found it very easy to identify with the player character, perhaps because I have a similar personality, which enhanced the story even more.
This…1 found this helpful
Short and sweet VN.

i wanted to like it but as soon as sayuri asked the mc on a date, a complete stranger mind you, and actually have a decent time? sorry but that's not how dating works in current year. i know, wish fulfillment and everything but come on, might as well make the heroines lolis at that point!
To be honest, this is the first VN I have ever "completed" and this one specifically gives me hope for others of its kind. I was constantly engaged with the story and overall had a great time just letting the story play out. All of the characters are very relatable and I would 10/10 play again.
