About Sacrifice
The bargain bin at your local video rental store. Inside, a VHS of an obscure horror movie released during the chaos of the VHS boom. Despite the shady tagline and being tossed in the discount pile, it carried a bizarrely bullish price tag of 1000 yen. Yet, you bought it anyway. What followed was regret... self-mockery... and a strange, twisted sense of joy. (The movie itself was trash, by the way.)This Ero-Guro (Erotic Grotesque) pixel art game is built around that exact musty, nostalgic atmosphere. Enjoy pixel art animation composed of thousands of individual sprites, hopeless or completely absurd endings, and a replay save function designed to mimic VHS dubbing.
GAMEPLAY
You will alter the development of the movie through your choices. By clicking icons at the bottom of the screen, you interfere with a shrine maiden who has been offered as a sacrifice to a grotesque creature. Whether you help the shrine maiden or plunge her further into despair is entirely up to you. On the 3rd in-game day, a young man who has feelings for the maiden will arrive to rescue her, bringing the game to a close. The ending is determined by the choices you make leading up to that moment.FEATURES
- Ero-Guro (Erotic Grotesque) pixel art style.
- Multiple endings.
- Save up to 3 replays.
- Customizable names for your replay tapes.

A novel throwback to the nastier side of old school horror movies and games, especially those from Japan. While there is some erotic content (if you're into tentacle breeding and parasites), most of the content is more focused on horror, as the point of this 'video nasty maker' is to make unique tapes of a A Handmaiden, a Boy, and a 'God'. The 'Blessing in Disguise' toggle is novel and adds some 'lighter' endings to compliment how dark the 'standard' endings get, but most endings are just the exact same route as the dark ending, just with the toggle enabled. Its a fun idea, and the pixel art is damned good, but there just isn't much beyond doing the same 5-10 minute scene 15 times. I say the art (both the erotic and horror sides) more than justify the price, but unless the concept really grabs you, probably grab it a bit cheaper, because its very short, and is more an 'interactable movie' than an actual game.2 found this helpful
Sacrifice is a short to-the-point point and click game but struggles with it's pacing and samey-ness and by the first thirty minutes I found it to be pretty tedious. The game sports 13 endings but half of them are riffs on already existing endings with the 'joke mode' enabled which only affects the outcome and none of the gameplay, requiring you to do the same thing at least twice over if you want to see everything (which isn't a lot.) Despite my gripes with it, I strangely loved this game despite zero dialogue and maybe a sentence or two concluding the story during one of the multiple endings; the animation and premise carried heavily. Some of the endings, especially the 1982 The Thing parody, is what really hooked me. The grittiness and dark atmosphere presented is what the game excels in, but the gameplay is very limited despite it all. For how short and repetitive it is, the price is a few dollars too much imo but if this goes on sale and you want like an hour of fun bug monster feudal-japan gorefest then pick this one up. Don't expect anything genre-defining but it's good for a quick moment as long as you don't try to go for all the joke endings; that's when it starts to ove…
Game very good , the art quality and the animation is pretty peak. More horror than lewd. I do recommend this but only at sale. It is good but there should be more for that price.
The game is pretty good, but also short and kinda hard. If your the type that looks forward to unlocking all the endings, your gonna have a hard time, as there is really not any guide to getting them, its just you and your guesses. In my opinion, The game kinda lacks a path as there is so little things you can think of before you come into a stop and mentally block. Endings like the Peaceful one, are not really as straight forward, as you have to wait some time before you do the first action to actually unlock it. There is really not any tutorials and guide so if you want to experience the game to the fullest you're gonna have to find it all on your own. (6/10 Game) *forgot to mention the pixel art is pretty good!
