About There's Nothing Down There

There's Nothing Down There is a short horror exploration game about piloting a small submarine through dark ocean caverns. Tasked with investigating a large thermal anomaly, you and a colleague descend into a deep sinkhole at the bottom of the sea. Quickly, you discover the gargantuan structures of a long lost civilization and find that as ancient as these constructions are, they are not dead nor are they unguarded. What started as a routine surveying job will turn into a journey of monumental discovery and intense danger.

Features:

 • Deep atmospheric undersea caverns
 • Enormous ancient ruins to explore
 • Navigate dark caverns with a sonar system to find hidden pathways
 • Fully voiced story as you traverse deeper into the sunken structures
 • A life and death struggle against a colossal machine

Note

This game is intended to be finished in a single session (roughly 30 minutes) and does not include a save system.

This can be completed in 22 minutes. I have downloaded free demos that last longer than that. Just as the story and idea is getting good, it just ends. I can understand charging $1 for at least an hour of gameplay, but this felt like a demo that the dev is charging money for. Interesting idea, but not even worth $1.60 imo because of how short it is. This honestly should have been released for free, and the follow-up game (with at least 3+ hours of gameplay) should have cost money, like The Complex did. As is, this just feels like trying to make a few bucks on a demo. Keep making games, but understand that a one-shot experience that only lasts 22 minutes is a **demo**, not a retail release game.

Interesting short experience (about 30 minutes), that I've experienced thanks to recently added VR support, Gameplay is fairly simple mostly following second submarine thru underground tunnels, while equipped with lights, underwater flares, and sonar, and using the equipment there's like 5 points, where player needs to find a way forward & survive. It has a bit of replayability thanks to the achievements. So it's more than enough for the price.
And it even has two endings. But on my first playthrough I've kinda experienced third - unintended one: while the ancient/alien killer robot was chasing me with his laser in the end, for the last shot his laser lined up perfectly for the sun, which made perfect sense, since he was chasing heat signatures and light, and he fired, sun immediately exploded into green blast sphere, and the fade to black lined up with that so perfectly that for a moment I believed the killer robot, with his super powerful laser technology accidentally killed the sun. And I was directly responsible for the apocalypse by waking up the robot, exploring where I shouldn't have... (of course it would not make sense scientifically for that laser to blast off…

A short but good quality 30min underwater exploration horror game for pretty cheap, give it a try!

I just have one question. It's soooo good, but WHY IS IT SO SHORT ?! It's really an exceptional game, but of the length of a demo (i hope that it's just temporary and there will be updates...) It reminded me so much of Soma and Subnautica, please update it and make a real story out of it.

I really enjoyed this game, especially now that it supports virtual reality. I actually bought it and waited for the developer to add VR support so I could experience it that way right from the first time. I hope he can adapt it for other headsets, for instance, to take advantage of the foveated rendering supported by Steam Frame and even PlayStation VR2 via OpenXR (aside from being a Lovecraft fan, I’m a VR developer myself, though I work in Unreal Engine rather than Unity). Visually and atmospherically, it’s excellent game; the only downside is that it’s short, but you can't really ask for more at that price point. I hope the developer keeps making games like this with VR support and manages to make them increasingly longer and more elaborate.
