About Primordio

Primordio is a game about chain lightningSurvive the void. Control a wisp of pure energy in this roguelite bullet-hell survival game. Chain lightning through swarms of primordial entities, level up with powerful upgrades, and fight to stay alive long enough to discover the secrets!A great reason to buy this game is that it is incredibly refund-friendly. You start off extremely weak but you'll know in under ten minutes whether or not you want to become strong. If you do, you'll enjoy access to limitless power. If you don't? No hard feelings. It's not going to be a different game on your second hour. When I first came up with the idea for drag and drop movement in a survivorslike game, I didn't think it would work.
And honestly, the first few attempts, it did not work. But something made me try again and again, it became a code kata. You are a wisp of creation in a futile struggle against life itself.Lightning emanates.Lightning prioritizes.Chain lightning is your main ability. While you've got an aura and you can discover powerful spells such as comet, blizzard, fireball, magic missile, prismatic ray, and many others, chain lightning is your constant friend as the Will o'Wisp.Make wise choices.Discover the secrets of Primordio.

Primordio is a unique survivor-like game where you are a wisp floating around an abstract landscape filled with ambiguous creatures. You kill stuff to release exp, grab exp to level up, level up to upgrade your stats, and upgrade your stats to kill more stuff, then after each run you spend essence to get meta-upgrades and make yourself stronger for the next run. This is the standard loop for the genre, but Primordio adds a couple of unique twists: 1. You move by dragging and dropping yourself. It sounds weird, but works surprisingly well, and can allow you to weasel your way through tiny gaps in the enemies to find a safe place to park. 2. "Words of power" are a unique, fun mechanic where you find runic words floating around the void, which you can eventually inscribe to add different effects to your game. Some are just stat boosts, some make the game harder while giving you bonus exp or essence, some add completely new mechanics to the game, and a few make you totally overpowered. Each run, you can choose which ones to inscribe depending on the type of game you want to play. 3. When you get too strong or max out your meta-upgrades and can't progress further, you can reset most of…

7/10 - Shocking Bullet Heaven
Shockingly addictive space based bullet heaven!

Gameplay
You can become a powerful star that spreads out chain lightning, damaging auras, thunder strikes, magic missles and fireballs in this bullet heaven! There's a large amount of incremental meta progression skill system you can keep increasing your power overtime while resetting your progression for prestiege points. You can find "words" out in runs and if you inscrypt them before your next run you can unlock some new effects you pay to turn on for future runs. A handful of elite enemies/bosses that have different abilities to deal with other than horde of generic enemies. Unique bullet heaven where instead of moving with WASD you have to click and hold then drag your character around - fun movement that's fresh for this genre.

Visuals
Bright clear to see enemies and spell effects on a dark spacey background, works well.

Sounds
Satisfying chain lightning arc sounds on enemies. Soundtrack is enjoyable.

UI & UX
Quite minimalistic and clean - take's a little while …

After playing this in a trance for hours and earning all my upgrades, the game suggested I delete all my upgrades and start over. I did.

Upd: tag's been removed, but my 8.5 hours arent, cheers
Is it an incremental?
I bought this game mainly due to that steam tag before season 1 update, and was at the crossroads of "should i keep playing or wait for the upcoming update", and after that update came, i've given up any hope of this being up my alley.

Game is clearly not for me because its a rogue-lite first, incremental second (even if that is a stretch). You start a run, pick temporary stat boosts along the way, die/escape, buy permanent stat upgrades, repeat. Main gameplay loop felt interesting early on, but later it just became very stale and monotonous, going after same upgrades over and over. I tried Hades once, i dont know how i managed to get 100% completion, i felt very exhausted by the end of that game, never doing that again. The schtick of this game is with its "inscriptions" mechanic. Random symbols may appear during your run, which are actually letter combinations which form a word and need to be written in the game's hub, and upon entering/activating the word, it will provide a modifier for the run. It can be a buff, …
