New characters, vehicles, and difficulty levels bring fresh challenges whether you're a veteran or rookie operative.
You have been selected for active service in the Commandos Corps, and must now mobilize in a series of 8 new dangerous missions. - Distract and confuse the enemy soldiers by throwing stones and cigarette boxes.
- Kidnap German soldiers, destroy train-mounted artillery and sabotage prototype aircraft.
- Eliminate opponents from considerable distance with the Enfield long-range weapon.
- Two new characters; a female member of the Dutch resistance, and a Major from the Yugoslav Partisan forces.
- Use ether, handcuffs, a club or your own fists to subdue the enemy.

Good old nostalgia
Played it in 99. Then in 2021. Now in 2026. Same enthusiasm, same engagement. Commandos is an evergreen classic. Both BTCOD and BEL.
[i]Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty[/i] was an interesting real-time strategy WWII game for its time, which was 27 years ago at the time of this review being written, but now it is quite dated and unsuitable for modern audiences, irrespective of the miracle of it working on Windows 11; the tutorial, by default, comes broken and separate from the base game, meaning that players unfamiliar with the first game, [i]Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines[/i], will have to get used to controls and mechanics through trial and error, even with the low-quality manual PDF. This product is more like a DLC for Behind Enemy Lines, as players are once again tasked with defeating the National Socialist German Workers' Party, who surrendered in the first game, through guerrilla tactics, micromanagement of a small group of commandos, and shift-clicking hundreds of enemies to see their line of sight. Given the existence of better thematic strategy games, this video game is best left collecting dust rather than purchased and played.
My all time favorite game. WWII RTS peaked here.
