Strikers 1945

A very fast paced and fun shooter game with a lot of variety. I'm a particular fan of the assortment of ships with their unique playstyles. Each run through the game is fairly short, which I consider to be a plus for the genre, as you can do many playthroughs, pushing your score ever further without sinking in too much time to each attempt. Punchy sound effects, satisfying shot types, memorable boss encounters, what's not to love? As of the writing of this review, with 2.5 hours of play time, I hold the online leaderboard high score of a measly 453,300. This is less of a testament to how good I am and more of a testament to how few people have bought this game so far. Only 20 players have thus far attempted the Score Attack mode. So this is a challenge to YOU! The reader! Come and beat my score, and then you can be the greatest Strikers 1945 (Steam Release) player who ever lived! Being the best at something is pretty special ain't it? And I will keep trying to unlock the achievements and improve my own score, because this game has got me hooked!

I remember playing this game as a kid, and it was hard. The kind of hard that mattered when you only had a few dollars in your pocket and every continue counted. Strikers 1945 demanded focus, quick reactions, and patience. There were no shortcuts and no mercy, just pure arcade challenge. Coming back to it years later has been a great experience. The gameplay still holds up, the pacing feels right, and the difficulty is exactly how I remember it. It is challenging in a fair way, where improvement comes from learning patterns and staying calm rather than relying on upgrades or gimmicks. What really stands out is how fun it still is. That core arcade feeling is intact. Pick it up, play for a few minutes, or sink into longer sessions chasing better runs. It respects your time and your skill. If you grew up in arcades or appreciate classic shooters that test you without holding your hand, this one is absolutely worth revisiting.

I really liked playing Strikers 2 in an arcade back when I was a kid. So I wanted to try this one, and finish the collection. The port is good. There are no glitches or any problems like that. The game is a little subpar compared to Strikers 2, but I think the true value of this game is the nostalgia element rather than the game play.

A blast to play. Great sense of progression. Tough but if you keep trying you will get further and further into the game. Crisp controls. Fun bomb mechanic. Simple scoring system. Online Leaderboards. I can now consistently beat the first loop on the easiest difficulty setting but it takes almost all the lives available. My advice, play on the easiest difficulty setting as soon as you get stuck playing on normal. Music is okay. If you are not necessarily a fan of world war two aesthics this may appeal less to you.
