feels like a game from a cereal box

From my gameplay experience I did enjoy this game having only a few issues. I feel that the power up cards that show on screen could have a better artwork to represent them that fit better with this stylized approach of a game. The other issue is the lack of optimization CURRENTLY. I say currently as the devs specifically say that it is their main focus to optimize this game to the best of their ability. From the fact that this game is still in early access and has a fun literal gameplay loop I see a strong future if the optimization gets fixed.

An incredibly stylish and breezy roguelite that, while not reinventing the genre, adds enough unique flavor to keep us jumping back behind the wheel of those constantly wisecracking space cars time and time again.

I like the game. Brings something pretty fresh to a roguelite. Flight feels fine. I do wish there was a lot more variants of the enemies, but hopefully that's coming with time. Huge complaint here. It's beyond irritating as a K+M player to have to use Enter to choose things and go past dialogue. The action starts back up right after and either my hand is no longer on my mouse, or isn't on the left side of the keyboard anymore. Just change it to a left-hold click or something.

Cosmo Tales is a single-player roguelite space shooter where you pilot a talking car through a colourful retro-futuristic universe, fight Glitchbots, collect upgrades and shift between three dimensions that change both your abilities and how combat works. The game launched into Early Access on September 3, 2026, with additional chapters and polish planned before full release. Pros ✔️ The art direction has a LOT of personality - I immediately liked the colourful retro-futuristic look. It has this '60s/'70s sci-fi thing going on that gives the whole game its own identity instead of just trying to make space look realistic. ✔️ Cosmo and Shifty are great - The voice acting adds a ton of heart, and the two of them gave me something to care about between all the shooting. I kept stopping to comment on the performances because they genuinely added a lot to the game. ✔️ The roguelite stuff is really approachable - Tweaks give you plenty of ways to mess with weapons and change your build without throwing a giant wall of systems at you. A fun loop. Controls are smooth, the dimensional hopping is NOT at all complicated or convoluted. The voice acting was well done, and the delivery was humorous. Overall, as a fan of roguelikes/lites, this was a fantastic addition to my library.
