Megadimension Neptunia VIIR

Whilst I managed to enjoy the game, I can't in good conscience give it a positive recommendation. It is very unstable, crashing rather consistently in the VR sections and uncommonly during battles. Nothing I did seemed to resolve the instability and the game is unlikely to ever be revisited with a patch. The sound-mixing is also terrible, some of the earlier maps will have sounds which will blow out your eardrums such as the security cameras turning or the wind rustling the leaves of the trees. Thankfully not every area is as obnoxious but I almost dropped the game there and then. The combat is also a bit of a snooze-fest since almost every battle can be won with a special skill or two, later in the game it doesn't improve much although the bosses don't seem to die as quick... until you get the "share dependant damage" skill for Neptune. The story isn't the strongest in my opinion although the characters are as fun as ever. Some claim the removal of the other endings is a negative, I say it's a positive since I won't have to deal with such an unstable playthrough a second or third time. Oh and who thought adding RNG to the loot was a good idea? Even worse, the cosmetic item…

I absolutely adore this game, the story is my favourite of any nep game. The VR gimmick is pretty scuffed for the pc port but the scenes were still super fun, and I didn't mind the combat changes from other mainline titles. Grab it on sale and give it a go

Overall not a awful game. It's easier than the original game (Megadimension Neptunia VII). The combat was redone, and not in a good way IMO. And the game has a issue with crashing every once in awhile. It does auto-save just about all the time though so even if you crash, you won't lose much progress. They also scrapped all the extra endings that was in the original, leaving only one ending (the good ending), which is a bit of a disappointment. So that being said, I'd recommend getting the original over this one. I'd say wait for a sale if you plan to give this version a try.
