Rogue Command

It's REALLY GOOD? I can see myself playing a lot of it in the future.

9/10 Almost 70 hours played and 100% achievements. Rogue Command is an incredibly, incredibly fun RTS. It combines two of my favorite genres, RTS and roguelite, in a way that feels fresh. There’s a lot of complexity hidden behind simple design, especially in how Engineers, Specialists, and Harvesters shape your strategy. The themed roguelite upgrades are probably my favorite part. They naturally push you toward specific builds, and watching those upgrades come together into a coherent strategy is incredibly satisfying. On higher difficulties, though, viable builds become more limited. Sound effects are top quality and make combat feel great. I think other RTS developers can take notes from Rogue Command as it is today. It shows how much depth you can get from simple systems. My main criticism is missing quality-of-life options, especially auto-cast/auto-use for some abilities. 9/10. Great game.

There are the bones and even musculature of a great game here, but it really could use more time in the oven. It's just a lot of obvious little things, like the brighter "this is where you see through the fog of war" area not revealing things until it's a bit beyond targets, to not being able to shift-QWER-click-click to use abilities more than once, to metaprogression bonuses not always being applied properly when a blueprint is acquired from Random (e.g. turret quantity didn't increase), to 12345 hotkey groups not being updated when an ability has a unit die and immediately return, and more. On the plus side, acquiring and upgrading units etc. is pretty addicting, as a roguelike should be, and this is one of the first games I've encountered where eliminating an enemy's production structures actually feels like it has a meaningful impact on what the enemy fields. Similarly, the enemy will expand instead of solely throwing tides of units after you, which is unusual. A combined arms doctrine is also pretty important instead of spamming a ton of the same unit. It's just fun. There was plenty for me to learn, yes there is a meta, but I always had fun trying full sniper, full melee, or turret based builds. enough to unlock to enjoy a new run each time.
