Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III

It has been a long time, but i have given it another chance, the textures are nice and efficient, the elites are not as op any more, they now shape your army more than dominate it, still centerpieces as they should be. I'm now starting to enjoy it, I can play the way i would build an army on tabletop (but that may just be me) being not confined to an inf Ork units don't have to collect so much scrap anymore, just once is enough, not so much micromanagement any more. I think the communication killed a promising game, it took too long to react to what the community wanted, I remember the first big update was another Elite with no acknowledgement that a lot has to be done. As far as I can tell the streamlining vs distinct faction mechanics is good, other factions could be integrated nicely. Hopefully DoW 4 will take this chance. Regards

They tried to split the difference between tactical DoW I RTS style. Sacrificial troops. easily replaced easily lost. Disposable army. Very "streamlined" Base building. With the Hero based Units as your anchor for Combat and Story.. Similar to Dow II. And missed the mark on both. no room to get attached to your heroes (elites). Customization is.. generic.. defeats the purpose. The cut scenes or story telling feels.. passionless. Just checking off boxes. and the combat is strange... You could micro manage position and abilities with cover or you could literately run any units in mass and still get the win. I tried a couple of multi player.. I will stick to my other RTS games. and my other military RPG's. If you want Dow RTS go back to Dow I If you want to feel the campaign and customization of your units and unique builds. DoW II.

I've been doing a playthrough of all the Dawn of War games in anticipation of the 4th game and I feel very conflicted on Dawn of War 3. It looks great, every faction feels very authentic to who they're supposed to be, the armies were great with the walkers and customizable elites being a highlight. I just didn't have fun playing it, it was a slog to get through and after having just played the previous games and their various expansions it felt like a real let down. Also. there were some really annoying bugs. Sometimes my buttons would change randomly and there is no way to remap them. Sometimes upon finishing a mission the game will just go to black screen and freeze so you have to close the game and reopen it. Just lots of little things that ruined what I had hoped to be a great experience. Here's hoping DoW4 learns from the mistakes of 3 and the successes of 1&2.

Played through the campaign and boi howdy is this one a stinker. Surprising given Relic's previous track record of relative success at making RTS games. But bad unit AI, annoying progression bugs and other issues means that an otherwise pretty game that could muster being just "fine" falls a lot shorter than expected.
