A.I.M. Racing is an ancient game from 2010. It's a whopping 13 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for any modern gaming display resolutions (or widescreen monitors), hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge, or just a cash grab to try profit from abandonware. This is a Chinese ripoff of Star Wars: Pod Racer, it's an unabashed clone, a knockoff of the pod-racing scene we all know and love dearly from Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. You can see from the screenshots... you're controlling an anti-grav vehicle along the canyons of Tattoine. Just because Lucas didn't sue then, and Disney haven't sued yet, doesn't mean it's not coming, so, you know, this is already a risky buy. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. After 14 years, I was able to complete this childhood goldmine. It took me a long time before I uncovered this game due to me rage quitting and not writing the name of the game on a piece of paper. Is this nostalgia bias, most probably, but I think it holds up pretty well to this day. The days of Vista will not be forgotten.
