About A Night Before the Deadline
You play as a developer Joe who stays at the office till late night because his boss asked him to finish the work. All you need to do is to collect code fragments written by other developers, merge them and deploy the project. Nothing special, right?
Everything seems to go as planned but at some point strange things start to happen. You see visions you can’t explain and receive phone calls from an unknown number. That person obviously just wants to distract you from doing your work. Or is he warning you about something? As you progress the work further you begin to realize that something is wrong…
Key features:
- Explore an empty night office
- Solve minigame puzzles to progress the story
- Figure out the cause of your visions and unravel a mystery of an unknown caller

A Night Before the Deadline is a short adventure game with an engaging atmosphere and creative story concept that most players finish in under an hour. While the game offers some variety through mini-games and an interesting office setting, players consistently criticize the slow, awkward walking mechanics and tedious item-searching gameplay, with some finding the mini-game logic unclear and the story underdeveloped. Most agree it's a decent experience for the asking price, particularly on sale, but acknowledge its brevity and gameplay limitations prevent it from being a strong recommendation.
A Night Before the Deadline
Enjoyable for the short time on offer, with just enough variety to keep it interesting. The controls are terrible and the searching is a little tedious. I’d maybe recommend it in a sale.
Follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one.
A Night Before the Deadline is an adventure game set in the IT department of an office block. The deadline for an important piece of software is due for completion tomorrow, and Joe must stay late to complete the work. In order to complete the build, Joe must search the office for code fragments scattered around the building and deploy them; A simple task, but it soon becomes apparent that not everything is as it seems.
🤔Overall Impressions🤔

A Night Before the Deadline is a basic game of searching for USB sticks around an office and playing a few mini games. It only lasts around an hour and has keyboard control only. The story is quite weak but the atmosphere is heavy and it just about keeps your interest until its conclusion. 100% in 55 minutes. Would have taken me only about 20 if it wasn't for that slow walking. Story is quiet lame.
Gameplay: you slowly wander around finding some usbsticks, return to your pc and do some merching of coloured bars - if there is any logic behind those minigames, i missed it
3 found this helpful
An ambitious & amusing project about the life of an IT guy, incl. some reference to The Matrix! Nice job, go on!1 found this helpful
This game was more than I was expecting. The atmosphere from the audio in game puts you on edge, the "story" (though I called it early) was something new (although very short). Took roughly 25 minutes to 100%. While the walking is rough and awkward at times, the sprint is bae. Overall, it was very short, but definitely made me feel uncomfortable with the atmosphere. The mini games were different, and it felt like a good start to something!1 found this helpful
Absoulte Garbage. DO NOT PLAY THIS FREE GAMe. Your a code programmer. The puzzles are THE WORST IVE SEEN IN A GAMe they dont make sense. You have to match up colours to get the progress bar to 100 % ro merge the code except its trial and error. Rather than just working it out and stupid TRIAL AND E RROR and takes ages. I gave up. I dont know people on YT finished this game in 22 minutes. I was still playing at 40 minutes and getting a headache from the stupid puzzle color codes. Whoeevr thought that was a good idea ahould be SHOT.\ The run speed is slow. YOu run around the office collecting code fragmebts too,. The first one is 12 fragments to collect, then again you have to find anoher 20. I got past 20 but trying to solve the puzzle was way overboard, This time you had 6 boards to do... NO THANKS....GARBAGE GAME....stay away
