To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to enjoy A Special Place In Hell. The gameplay is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the movesets will go over a typical player's head. There's also main stick figure's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these action moves, to realise that they're not just incredible- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike A Special Place In Hell truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the battle in Royale's existential catchphrase "You have been defeated, waiting on winner to restart" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as simon's genius wit unfolds itself on their pc screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 Also, first7 found this helpful
"A Special Place In Hell" is a garbage non-free dead PvP brawler. The developer claims this is meant to look lika a 4 bit Atari 2600 console game... but it looks nothing like it, the pixel placements are all wrong. It just looks like crap. Of course, there's no players due to the godawful quality, and the funny thing is the technical delivery, while some of the worst on Steam, isn't even the worst thing about this dead "game". The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly proble…2 found this helpful
