Air Guardians

This game makes ACE COMBAT ASSAULT HORIZON look like a masterpiece. Straight up trash this game is. Had my plane bouncing like a basketball on the ground before it finally blew up. Quite a fitting name for a studio I might add too.

[h1] Air fartians. Controls are mess, you end up spinning and rolling aimlessly trying to hit some enemies and you'll not hit them. Homing rockets can't hit a thing. Mission introduction feels like a chore. Voices will make your eardrums tremble. Generic maps with nothing original. Hint - remove from library before losing time on junk. [/h1]

I'm not really sure if Air Guardians is an asset flip. Some elements of this game certainly make it seem like the developer put some effort into assembling some kind of original here. On the other hand, a lot of the game assets don't seem like they were created by the developer, but they haven't credited any asset creators for supplying assets, which might be a case of plagiarism. There's no evidence, so we need to give the benefit of the doubt... regardless, asset flip or not, the quality here is indistinguishable from many asset flip/cash grab scams, and that's a problem in itself. It's an older game from 2015. It's a venerable 9 years old at the time of this review, and it feels dated. It's a futuristic flight combat "sim" (although it's a bit more arcadey than simulationist). You fly a futuristic jet/spaceship/whatever and blast enemies, what fun, I guess. The game is very simplistic, small and limited in scope and ambition. This feels more like a tech demo, proof of concept or student homework assignment rather than a fully fledged product designed for PC gamers. Never recommended - the controls are clearly tailored for a controllers and are super wobbly and without any stability with a mouse. Even then the game fails to make the simple act of lining a shot fun and simple. Instead it is an endless struggle. It would help if you could slow down your craft to have more than approximately two milliseconds to both aim and shoot. A special mention of suckiness: the tutorial part of trying to shoot multiple enemies that do avoidance maneuvers, with a minigun, is extremely difficult even in good games. Here, it is just a cruel prank. Lining that thing up is impossible due to how slow and not tight the controls are. The controls are made of stupid.

Short, boring, WW2 style combat with heat seeking rockets, bad keyboard controls that cannot be changed.
