I've played this game for over 14 hours, and loved every minute of it. Gameplay here: https://youtu.be/ZZQxnREyWwQ If you're into retro indie titles, check out my catalog here: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/indieretrogamers

Angelstrike offers a decent variety baddies to contend with as you fulfill missions. You might find yourself panting after making it through walls of barrages of bullets and other explosive items you don’t want touching your nice heli. It’s pretty intense for most of the game. It’s also pretty hard. You feel accomplished for completing levels (at least I did). The difficulty keeps pace with your skill growth, but you can leapfrog ahead by buying upgrades. I recommend the cluster bombs for at least a few missions. It was extremely satisfying to fly across the map while dropping cluster bombs and spewing missiles and bullets everywhere shaking the whole landscape. ‘Course you’ll die fast if you’re not flying carefully, but sometimes you gotta have some crazy fly time. I think the tone of the game is engaging with the light story, and no over-the-top narratives. The pixel art is superb, and the music is good too. Really helps getting you in the let’s-freakin-blow-up-some-pixelated-baddies groove. Overall a great homage to the side scrolling chopper games. I think the Choplifter franchise was the main one to kick off the genre. I played Airlift Rescue as a kid which is basically th…

This seems like a reimagining of that old game "Choplifter" where you blew up the baddies and saved people and stuff. Except now you can upgrade your gear as you go. This is probably my favorite part of the game--the weapon and gear upgrades keep you hooked and make you want to stick around so you can get the next missile upgrade, for example. The dev really made it super satisfying to get the next upgrade and then you can obliterate the turrets. This is a small detail, but there are a bunch of little people along the game that you can save (some are the primary purpose of your mission, but often they are just bonus)--and that just makes you feel more invested in defeating GSIA. You can tell a lot of love went into this game--there's a lot of little animations and details. The pixel art style fits the nostalgia bill. In combination with the hectic bullet hell particle effects and explosion and debris flying all over the place. The backgrounds are gorgeous and the terrains also are superb. Love the art. It's fun--the game isn't too long, probably around 8 hours of gameplay, in my mind it's priced perfectly. A bunch of action, a bunch of dodging--some cursing at losing…
