About Asleep: Act 1

Asleep is a 2D point-and-click psychological horror adventure, set in the Brazilian Northeast of the 90s, and with a unique artistic look, ranging from realistic pixel art to fluid animations. "Act 1" is the first episode of Ana Lúcia's story, a lonely and confused girl, lost in her nightmares, and immersed in a disturbing reality. With not much information, and a mind flirting with insanity, the player must join her to unravel what is happening in her universe, collecting clues in her sketchbook and solving puzzles. Armed only with a flashlight to illuminate the path, and wit to survive the enemies always lurking in the darkness.
Turn to your flashlight and the ambient lighting to survive, using light to find new items and places, and even to attract or avoid enemies. Different monsters react differently to light! With your flashlight in hand, use stealth mechanics to escape dangers while learning to deal with each threat.
Avoid staying in the dark for too long, as it will cause the protagonist's sanity to deteriorate, leaving her anxious and attracting more dangers. The longer in the darkness, the more chaotic Ana Lúcia's nightmares become.
Experience the game's dark atmosphere by exploring the highly detailed 2D environments developed in pixel art. Explore point-and-click mechanics to solve puzzles, flee from monsters like in classic survival horrors, and navigate the environment through Asleep's platforming elements.

And more:

 • Travel between two versions of the game's universe, encountering an even darker and more hostile side of it
 • Collect documents, items, and clues to unravel the dark mysteries of the plot
 • Dense narrative with some choices and collectibles that can unlock secret memories
 • Story divided into chapters, with Act 1 being the first part of the game - Act 2 now available as DLC!

Was unable to play. It spams input controls despite there being no input, and even turning off all input related devices to see does not change. Then it just randomly changed the language to Portuguese and will not accept any input to change the language again. There was some other bugs leading up from the short time I got to play, but ultimately this is a gamble if you even get the game to work.

I am absolutely Blown Away by how good this game is! I bought this cuz it was on sale and didn't think much of it then when I actually played it I fell in love with it instantly! The atmosphere, the voice acting, the plot everything is perfect. It's basically a 2d Silent Hill game but really really good to the point where it really feels like it said its own thing and really takes inspiration from Silent Hill more than just straight-up copies it. I actually would have prefer Silent Hill games to be more like this. This game is amazing and I'm going to buy the other chapters because the story is really good and I really want to see where it's going.
Please consider following my Curation page. I cover a wide range of genres both paid and unpaid, providing unbiased opinions as well as regular giveaway events.
Video Review TBD https://youtu.be/cA_TXIHoIWo
Needs to Wake Up
It feels more like a comedy than a horror game. I felt no tension or fear at any point. Most of the time, I was simply running past everything to reach the next objective, just to get through Part 1 and then Part 2. The inconsistent voice acting did not help. Some sections are fully voiced, others are completely silent. I understand budget constraints, but half-committing makes the experience feel unfinished. Pick one approach and stick with it. The lack of polish is impossible to ignore. There were frequent bugs, including moments where my character could not move at all. The game barely uses music, and when it does, there is no sense of urgency or dread. Puzzle design takes a noticeable dive in Act 2, becoming more frustrating than engaging. Worse, after finishing Act 1, the in-game trailer for Act 2 outright spoils the monsters and exactly how to deal with them. …

In theory, the game is pretty cool. I love the silent hill vibe of it, the OST is very cool, and the art style is eerie in a good way. Voice acting could be better, but it isn't terrible. However, the game is very buggy. I seem to be stuck right before the end — essentially, there should be a box I can move to escape a specific room, but there is no box? I tried restarting the game but nothing worked. At first, I thought I hadn't unlocked something, but after watching a few walkthroughs, there should definitely be a box I can move around. It's a shame really, but after looking at the discussion board, a good chunk of people are experiencing bugs with this one. Storywise, I think I already know what the end is going to be, but it doesn't have to be bad per se.

Game is very unpolished and buggy. It was alright at first but got stuck at the part in the school where you have to lockpick a door. I guess its a bug but the lockpick would either disappear or the monster kept attacking me. Literally did not matter what I did. Luring it to the other end of the hallway or hiding in lockers and letting it pass didn't work. The lockpick mechanic is just downright annoying to be frank.
