About Atomik: RunGunJumpGun

Atomik: RunGunJumpGun is a tough as nails 2D Action Platformer that puts a teeth-rattling, gravity-defying weapon in your hands. With a cast of crazed characters, simple but beautifully difficult gameplay, and a pulsing musical score, Atomik is a loud, trippy mess of twitchy platforming goodness.
The two-button setup is treacherously simple. One button shoots your massive gun downwards, propelling you through the air. The other shoots forward, destroying anything that’s in your path. But there is no stopping in this beautifully surreal world littered with deadly traps and soul-crushing obstacles around every corner. Players will have to constantly alternate between the two firing modes to maneuver through meticulously crafted levels where death is a promise not a possibility. There is only running, gunning, jumping, and gunning, in a mad dash to survive long enough to die again.
The game takes place in the Extax System, a solar system where the Sun has begun to swell and devour planets. With most of the planets already devoured, the remaining worlds have descended into madness and superstition. Each denizen has their own theory on why the sun seems so enraged, but they all hang on one central element: Atomiks, the primary resource in the entire system.
You play as a scavenger, a rogue from outside the Extax System who seems to have only one goal: get Atomiks. What do the Atomiks mean to the scavenger? Does he want to scoop up precious resources for himself, or use them as a way to appease the sun and end the suffering of the system? Or Maybe they’re just shiny pick-ups in a video game to him.

- Beautifully Difficult: Every second counts, and the game will test your reflexes to the fullest
- Shield Mode: Empower your intergalactic scavenger with an energy shield and decreases the movement speed to help make the intense action more manageable, but no less heart pounding and exciting.
- Nonstop Action: Merciful respawns let you die fast and keep you constantly in the action
- Two button gameplay: One button lets you fly, the other blasts obstacles into heaps of rubble.
- Three Unique Game Worlds: Each world presents its own distinct challenges which require players to change their playstyles
- Over 120 levels of Mayhem: Each level is meticulously crafted to hone and test the player’s speed and tenacity.
- Marathon Mode: For players looking to compete for the global high score.
- Surreal visuals: Trippy and hyper-colourful fantasy-sci-fi art style
- Hyperkinetic soundtrack: Pulsing musical score blending hip hop, electronic and movie-score vibes.
- Warped space-opera narrative: The game features a cast of crazed, beautifully illustrated characters.
- Masochistic Collectables: The quest to collect “Atomiks” littered throughout levels lends an extra level of insanity to already merciless level design. A gift to self-hating completionists.
- Accessible single-hand gameplay: Appropriate for players with disabilities.
- Made by free range developers fed a pure mixture of VVVVVV, Hotline Miami, and Super Meat Boy.
Pretty much like flappy birds but with more oomph. Shoot obstacles and gun jump avoiding obstacles and collecting bits. Arcade gameplay with psychedelic visuals that will blow your head off. 3 planets divided into several rounds each with 10 levels. Stages are short and memorizing level is the most important with a bit of trial and error. For a simple arcade game it's ok, but if you're looking for something more - look somewhere else. Rocket jump out of ten.
4 found this helpful
KAMGUSTA'S MINI REVIEW This is a conditioned positive recommendation. Game is a fast and furious autoscroller with one button for shooting and one button for "moving". Damaging level design, terrible soundtrack, toxic graphics, tons of levels. Game does not give a frack and let you, if you wish so, unlock all levels! Gameplay is not for everyone, it's a real challenge. If you are one of the few that likes it, this game is a masterpiece (+2 to score). Everyone else look elsewhere, for Steam's sake! Atomik: RunGunJumpGun is an absolute blast! The fast-paced action keeps you hooked with its unique blend of running, shooting, and jumping mechanics. The pixel art graphics are stunning, and the retro soundtrack perfectly matches the intense gameplay. Levels are creative and challenging without being frustrating, and the power-ups add that extra excitement. Whether you're playing solo or with friends, it's endlessly replayable. Highly recommend for fans of action platformers! 😊1 found this helpful
Everything about this game is extreme in the best ways possible. Each level is extremely short but packs a huge punch. The controls are simple (only two buttons) but extremely hard to master. Not only is getting through the game extremely difficult, but getting all of the collectibles in each level is extremely satisfying. The pixel graphics are extremely original looking and the music slaps extremely hard. TLDR; if you like tough as nails precision platformers that utilize a fresh gimmick, this is going to be for you. I can't say enough good things about this game!
The physics and the controls are infuriatingly crappy. There is a rule in game design that states you are allowed to have poor mechanics as long as you do not play them against the player. For example, a game with poor platforming controls should not make you do perfect platforming. Imagine having to shoot forward so that you can clear the way, though shooting forward makes you go down into the spikes. In a narrow space. There is also a delay to all of the controls. That does not sound like most people's idea of good time. It is obvious difficulty-padding to get the playtime count up for many obvious reasons. There is no content in the game other than collecting BALLS and going to the left.
Strongly don't recommend, otherwise wait for 1$ sale
2 buttons, only 2, and even that is wrong here. If you hold jump and then start to also hold shoot, it stops your jump. You'll need to re-hold jump but the acceleration you built is lost. You jump and shoot all game, and this happens Every Single Time. That is just the tip of the iceberg, trust me. +: dirt cheap on sale, ~80cents -: broken precision platformer, RNG elements, lame music, so many more problems.
