Billion Beat is one of those games that looks completely ridiculous at first, but I ended up enjoying the actual boxing more than I expected. It is a strange 2.5D boxing game where I fight a bunch of bizarre alien opponents while trying to become the biggest and toughest fighter around. The colourful cartoon style and ridiculous characters make it obvious that the game does not take itself seriously, and I think that works in its favour. The combat is definitely the strongest part for me. There is a surprisingly large moveset to learn, and winning fights is much more about timing and choosing the right attack than simply hitting buttons as quickly as possible. I have to watch what my opponent is doing, find openings and use the right punch at the right moment. Perfectly timed attacks can also trigger stronger versions, so there is a nice reward for actually learning how the combat works instead of just throwing punches constantly. I also liked the Energy system because it gives me another thing to think about during fights. I can build up Energy and then spend it on Strong Punches or Rapid Flurries when I need to deal serious damage. Knowing when to save it and when to spend it a…

Billion Beat is basically Mike Tyson's Punchout but with Aliens and a more modern perspective. Game has a lot of depth and strategy to it. Not an easy punch out but gives another challenge with different difficulties to really have a fun time with this one. Give this game a try if your a fan of punchout or boxing. Personally, This game wasn't my cup of tea as I'm not really the audience for this kind of boxing game. Although, I would still recommend the game to anyone who likes punchout or boxing games. 7/10!
