What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise the game for capturing old-school RPG nostalgia with engaging real-time tactical combat that requires strategic ability combinations, especially in multi-enemy encounters and boss fights. The map editor is highlighted as intuitive and accessible, making it easy to create custom skirmish battles quickly. However, some players report frustrating issues including antivirus software blocking the game and graphical concerns, with a few expressing disappointment in the overall presentation despite appreciating the core gameplay mechanics.
This game really brings out the nostalgic feel for me for old school rpgs and games like Everquest. It plays like a realtime tactical game; combat is done in realtime "rounds" and you hit abilities to queue up for the next go around. Combat against a single monster seems pretty straight forward, but taking on multi-monster encounters, or strongholds with waves of enemies and bosses with unique mechanics requires finding effective combinations from a variety of abilities. I've been fiddling around a bit and while you start to learn a handful of combos you can apply to a variety of fights, some bosses seem to require you to figure out new tricks to pull. I haven't played too much of the campaign yet but I defnitely recommend it first before trying skirmish or multiplayer; the tutorial at the beginning is clutch for understanding the unique combat system, with the combat rounds and rage mechanics. I initially went right into a skirmish map and even on normal difficulty I found the most basic encounters challenging, until I started to learn what the abilities do, and how much stronger you get when you use the right combinations or rotations. The game presentation seems fairly simplis…12 found this helpful

This is so perfect for what I was looking for. In 20 minutes I was able to load it up, play the campaign just a bit to get a feel for it, then go to the map editor and create a small skirmish map. The editor is quite complete and very intuitive. Decide what you want to place then scroll up and down in the appropriate box to find just what you need.Back to main menu and load your newly made map and have at it. I'd love to see BOS2 be a 3D version with a great camera setup to really get into it. All the functions as they now stand would work well or maybe the Dev will come up with some new stuff. If you're looking for something where you can cook up your own battles without spending thqt much time just to have quick play or spend more time etc.. This is IT!1 found this helpful

my protection... for the internet said this is not on the safe software list and blocked it (when i tried to start up the game). freaky, and disppointing. it looks terrible, but i was gonna see if i could get all the achievements... on a StopWatch my plans are canceled... Badge lvl 4 is really cool though.
