Black Cat Book Club

I'm simple; I love books, cats and magic so it was an instant buy. The little customizations are cute, and doing some work or relaxing alongside the literate kitty is wholesome. Mentally, I'm often far away in a cozy library with a cat, for that reason alone it hits perfectly. Simply put, it's quite a lovely desktop companion with plenty of books, a cozy ambience and even a few optional tasks. Highly recommended.

Very cute and charming. Good price for a clicker with some funny customization and (i think) some secrets. It seem perfect for play while studying.

I typically am drawn to narrative based RPG games so why Black Cat Book Club? Well, I also love books so having a little cat reading books over on the right side of my screen* while I work on other things is just too adorable to resist. I mean it's a desktop companion game, so it's intended for the player to be as involved in helping the cat's progress in their magic studies as they want to be. Players even have the option of allowing their kitty to study automatically or not. OK sure, but what do you DO here? Well, there are bookshelves, lots of bookshelves. Just select a book with titles like "So you've accidentally joined a coven" and "How to use the tail as an improvised magic circle" and kitty will read them. You can cast spells (cosmic paw, a wisp, etc.) or click runes to directly help them along. There's a chest with goodies. You can also redecorate and make changes to the cat's color and wardrobe. But as a desktop companion, your attention is allowed to drift away to other tasks. So, I usually have this running when I am writing and my brain finds music too distracting. Cute game/desktop pet. Seems like the cat will read on its own providing you pick the books for it to read, it's faster with user intervention though. You can buy different accessories, wallpapers, etc. for the cat and its tower.

This is a very relaxing and cute idle game. You help a magical cat to read books and learn spells. It's nice to have the game running in the background (cat and fireplace noises) while occasionally switching to the game to stroke the cat, choose the next grimoire to read and help them to read faster and learn spells. Runs out of the box on my Linux. However, leaving fullscreen mode caused the demo to crash while running Linux. I didn't test leaving fullscreen on the release version.
