Blazing Strike, developed by RareBreed Makes Games LLC and published by Aksys Games, is a 2D fighting game that clearly draws from the legacy of classic arcade fighters while attempting to introduce modern sensibilities into its design. From its visual style to its mechanics, it channels the spirit of retro titles, particularly those associated with the Neo Geo era, while positioning itself as an accessible entry point for players who may not be deeply familiar with the genre. The result is a game that feels both nostalgic and contemporary, though not always perfectly balanced between the two. Set in a dystopian future shaped by social collapse and conflict, the game provides a narrative framework that supports its roster of fighters. Each character is tied to this fractured world, contributing to a broader theme of resistance and survival. While the story is presented through a dedicated mode with comic-style sequences and dialogue, it ultimately serves as context rather than a driving force. The storytelling offers some insight into the characters and their motivations, but it does not reach the level of depth or cohesion that might elevate it beyond a supporting feature. pros: rollback Cons: you will never be able to use it because your game will crash every other time you play online3 found this helpful
There are many good things about this game mechanically, and it has some good character design and sprites. What's really bad about it are its menu options and how it treats video. No windowed mode or a quit game button. What a bad combination. The menu is weirdly laggy but I can adapt to that. Also as a multiple monitor user it began booting on the wrong monitor, which is especially bizarre because it isn't even the right resolution. I just can't shake the feeling that I'd enjoy it a lot more if it were console exclusive and I were playing it on one. If I was able to play this game on my actual main monitor with my other monitor open I'd rate it much higher. While this isn't the biggest compliment for a sprite game, I'm just glad it doesn't lag up my older computer.2 found this helpful
The price is steep, and there's definitely a bit of jank still in the game, but I am actually really enjoying my time with the game so far. The combo system is simple but satisfying, the game has an old school charm, and the characters are varied. The Training Menu is now actually in the Training match, so you can adjust as needed without backing out. I'd definitely give the game a go if it ever goes on sale, and I hope the developer isn't discouraged from either updating the game or fixing it in a sequel because there is something special here2 found this helpful
holy moly even with 70% discount, I feel ripped off. the gameplay, the menus, and dysfunctional training mode all feel like hot garbage. why is this not in early access?1 found this helpful
