Blockicker

Blockicker is a lazy 2D top down retro pixel Sokoban-like game (only it's not the 1990's so it's unclear someone made such a retrograde move given the advent of mainstream 3D graphics in the mid 1990s and beyond). Gameplay consists of kicking blocks around a small top down puzzle grid. Get the blocks in the right places and you are punished by having to play another level of this crap. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. This little gem made all my Daily Indie Game bundles purchases worth it. I totally didn't expect it, but this game is simply fantastic.

What a great game. Challenging puzzles which are very satisfying to solve. Great pixel art and music, this game could easily have been on the SNES or Genesis. I hope to see more stuff like this from this dev!

A surprisingly nice puzzle game. Make sure to take some breaks since some puzzles will stump you for a while!
