About Blood Midnight Blossom
Catharsis is a vampire who lives in a world hidden from the eyes of ordinary people. For hundreds of years she has been looking after this city and does not mind lending a helping hand to it’s inhabitant. But there is one problem – the existence of Catharsis is coming to an end, her soul is decaying and in a week she will die in case she cannot ascend to her ancestors. To do this, she needs a human guide who will extract demonic energy for the ritual. Annihilation finds their agreement fair and agrees.
But there is a nuance.
Will the girl manage her task? Why does she have an ability to collect demonic energy? And where did her father’s debt come from? All this secrets will reveal the Blood Midnight Blossom.

What Steam players say

Players appreciate Blood Midnight Blossom's engaging story premise about inherited debt and supernatural bargains, with some praising the visual novel's customized engine work and effort to stand out despite using common tools. However, common complaints include poor translation quality, AI-generated art that players find unattractive, character design issues (particularly one character perceived as a "Villain Sue"), and the requirement to read extensive amounts of text to understand the full plot, which may feel tedious to some.
Blood Midnight Blossom, developed by podval01, is a visual novel about a woman called Annihilation who has recently fallen into debt of one point nine billion (currency not specified) after her father left every single thing he owned to her – and this inheritance included his debt. Unfortunately for her, debt collectors are ready and on their way to make sure they get some form of payment before the time is up, leaving the MC with but a day to find the amount she owes and no immediate solution to find such a large amount. Catharsis, a vampire, then offers assistance with the debt by asking to have Annihilation’s soul for a week. This quite possibly may be her only way to escape her debt. 𓆩♡𓆪 Due to the fact that I did not finish BMB and every route it offered, I cannot tell you as much as I’d like on the topic of endings and choices. There did indeed seem to be a fair few options and several different endings, but the endings I did get were not very exciting. They were early/short ones, however, so I can understand it may be due to my lack of story knowledge. Art-wise, the style was indeed consistent. All characters and pretty much every background continued to follow along …9 found this helpful
Short visual novel that shows family might be your worst enemy. Nowadays, it's difficult to review visual novels because most indie titles use the same engine. Fortunately, it allows for extensive modification, so sometimes you can't even tell. This always earns extra points from me because it shows an effort to make the game stand out despite the same UI features such as the ability to save at any time or skip all dialog. Another challenging subject is the story. For a genre that relies on delivering a strong story with exciting twists and turns, mentioning anything could ruin the experience. All you need to know is that you're in the shoes of Annihilation, a girl who inherited her father's massive debt. The name is weird, and the game contains various characters with unusual names. Visual novels are enjoyable when they include multiple endings and choices. And this one has an unusual twist that allows you to get the best endings after making your first choice in only a few minutes. But that's not fun since you're missing out on the entire story. There are several endings, and most of them are not happy. The plot is intriguing, involving forgotten memories, family, time travel…2 found this helpful
Played demo of this game before and skim through the finished one. And I can already say that this game is very similar to the previous one. In a way, that if you don't read most of it, you won't have the whole picture and won't understand the core plot. And the section with ~8 choices at a time can be intimidating, but has a lot of answers. Overall, like this game, but you have to read a lot and process it.1 found this helpful
Bought this for 2.50€. My brain understood every word and absolutely nothing that happened. 10/10. I can see the cracks in reality. My medication count has doubled. I am going insane. Recommended. But your therapist may go up a tax bracket. --- On a more serious note: The translation is definitely rough in places, but it's still understandable, and English clearly isn't the original language. There are some wonderfully bizarre sentences that may be partly translation weirdness, but honestly, given how surreal the actual writing is, it's sometimes difficult to tell where the translation ends and the madness begins. That said, it can get difficult to read at times so if that bothers you... it might not be for you. The visual style is... certainly an acquired taste. The sprites and backgrounds have that strange 3D-model-meets-AI-processing look, and whether you like that aesthetic is going to be very subjective. The game does disclose its use of AI processing, though — which I knew beforehand — so it's something to be aware of before buying rather than a surprise. The writing is probably the biggest selling point and the biggest potential dealbreaker. It's surreal, disjointed, o…
Yeah this game sucks. Translation is questionable at best. Yellow haired girl is blatant Villain Sue. Art looks awful. And it's AI. Animation is alright. Hard no on this one.
