I had some fun with this. If you like to play these sort of games, you may find some fun as well. However I have grown so annoyed that I cannot recommend it. I tend to play these for achievements. Since they tend to be light on content, it is a fun way to to kind of kill time. This game has made achievement hunting from a peaceful mindless grind to just frustration. As far as I can tell, this is only due to a bug. A lot of the achievements in this title revolve around hitting certain stat levels through choices on level up. Well my game as devolved into Sealed_key level ups. Bugged un pickable level ups. Meaning I often get only 1 choice on level up. As you can imagine this makes it very difficult to guide a build. Disappointment and frustration means this is a thumbs down from me. If your gaming style and goals are different than mine, this may be a good game for you. Take care out there!3 found this helpful
Played On Steam Deck
I dove into Bulletmancer looking for a bullet heaven twist on classic roguelite gameplay—and in many ways, it delivers. My four runs were all over the place: two ended in under a minute, which shows how quickly things can go south if you pick the wrong spells or struggle with the controls. Aiming on the Steam Deck with a controller felt clunky, but when I did manage to snag cool upgrades, the synergy system was a blast. Seeing spells combine into new forms of destruction kept me experimenting even after some brutal defeats. Despite the quick runs (capped at 15 minutes) and promising progression system, it just didn’t click with me right now. I’m actually getting a refund on Bulletmancer, yet I’d still recommend it for players who love discovering wacky spell combos and don’t mind a tough start. If you can handle the punishing early moments and adjust to the controls, there’s a fun, chaotic game here waiting to be unleashed.2 found this helpful
Design left me cold after 9 minutes of the full version, which, curiously, felt worse in both difficulty and feel over the demo. Refunded immediately. A miss that was almost on target imo. Number one design feature I hate is the stop shooting to get xp part, which feels so terrible that I do not want to stockholm myself into a psuedo good time by exposure. Pass pass pass.
Solid fun for a while. I really wish it had more content.
Its enjoyable for what it is, $5 to kill some time. Overall its an incredibly grindy game, 3 maps with a relative amount of enemy diversity, however by the time your run really gets going nothing on screen matters. There's a little bit of build diversity, but the different builds don't feel super unique from one another. A few of the characters seem outright overpowered compared to the others, one that starts with lifesteal and another with increased base Crit Chance and Crit Damage. The Faerie Collector might also be pretty strong with the Meta Upgrade that increases faerie spawn rates. A lot of the stat achievements seem somewhat difficult to obtain as there aren't a lot of ways to improve those stats outright and the percentage multipliers make you require like 10+ upgrades of specific items to hit them. Its also completely arbitrary since the difficulty is trivialized way before you hit those points. It took around 6 hours to unlock all items and complete a run with every character, there's only 1 item I've never seen in the entire game and I'm not sure why it never came up. I think its locked behind an upgrade path but the other item in its path is pretty strong and I picked …
A unique and challenging fun little game. Absorbing the gems reminded me in a funny way of Onimusha, so bonus points there.
