Great remaster of this classic game of the Amiga / DOS VGA era. I appreciate the effort!

"Burntime Remastered" is, well, like it says on the box, a remaster of Burntime, itself an ancient 1993 MS-DOS/Amiga post apocalyptic strategy/RPG (and almost certainly an inspiration for Fallout which would come later in 1997). What do you do in the game? It's a bit of combat, RPG, talk to NPCs, that kind of stuff. I wish they made more games like that today, but now everything is live service. The developer used AI to upscale the original artwork... we all know AI slop is disgusting but this seems like one of those really rare cases that it's okay, because the developers didn't use AI as a substitute for real, genuinely created game assets, just rizzing up the original game assets. What do you know. Still doesn't help the old, tired, busted 1993 visuals though. If you want to see it done right, look at the C&C remaster, that's a work of art. This ain't that. The problem here is that this is just too darn old. If I was reviewing this game in 1993, I'd probably give it a thumbs up. But most gamers aren't here on an archaeology expedition. I don't know anyone who loved the old game that I could recommend this to. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" …

I found this game through a random YouTube comment recently. I had it way back in the day on my 486 and played it loads. It captured my imagination and is weirdly atmospheric. So glad its here on Steam. You can play it remastered which is great or as the original if you want. Best of all its free. Incredible. I hereby vow to beat it, something I could never manage 30 years ago.

This was for me the first survival game I played and one of the first of that genre. The mechanics are dated and the game lacks a lot of QOL improvlements that we got used to since then. In my opition it has aged better than many other titls of that period and the remeastered version ironed out bugs and added more content. If you try the game I recommend to read the original manual and guides since there's no in game tutorial or tool tips. I spent hundreds of hours with the original and then several dozens more with the remastered version prior to the release on Steam. Thank you Max Design and Jakob Harder!

Still a great game. I sunk so much time in this game back in the day... I wish there was a second part with better combat and extended content (crafting+economy).
