Players praise Fallout's exceptional story, atmosphere, and soundtrack that create an immersive experience rivaling later entries in the series, along with its unique visual style and compelling antagonists. The main criticisms center on dated game design including difficult item visibility, unbalanced combat that ranges from punishingly hard early on to trivially easy later, and a UI that feels clunky by modern standards, though most agree these issues are worth tolerating for the strong narrative and world-building.
Probably my second favourite Fallout after New Vegas, and I find it hard to explain why. Everything involving the story and the atmosphere is top-notch, I absolutely adore it and it beats every other game in the series by a long shot. The ambient Soundtrack blends with the visuals of the game perfectly for every location, even the few reused tracks always fit. Speaking of visuals, the only issue I have with them is that finding items on the ground can be nigh-impossible sometimes, otherwise I love how this game looks, especially the over the top gory death animations. The Combat is just... ok, once you get used to it, not a fan of how it's balanced at all, I either feel far too weak early game where winning through save scumming is the only option or far too powerful late game. Only a quarter of the quests broke while I was playing this time (including the repeatable crimson caravan job lol), Love this game.1 found this helpful

Classic I played years ago. You need patience to finish it. Dated gamedesign but awesome music and story and combat. Wish they would make a remake or remaster with polished UI/UX.1 found this helpful
♥♥♥♥ those rats
this game is like nearly 30 years old so there's probably plenty of people explaining what I'll try to say better. Fallout was a really fun and immersive experience imo, its one of the few old games i've enjoyed spending my time on as much as I would a modern one, my first introduction to the franchise was fallout 4 so i didn't know how much i'd like fallout but truthfully, i really liked this game. Its artstyle is unique and the environment was fun to interact with, i like the super mutants and the master as the main antagonists, overall i don't have many complaints about this game that can't be wrote up as "I'm used to modern games that hold your hand through everything"
