Carrier

Carrier is a mobile-app tier minimalist/retro action puzzle game where you must rotate a growing circle while ensuring the green blobs at points on your circle don't hit the red baddy blobs while making sure they do hit the green blobs that your ever expanding circle approaches. Whatever. The ultra minimalist nature of the game, ugly visuals, and incredibly shallow gameplay puts this on par with or below the average quality of mobile apps and browser/Flash games, and yet for some reason this has been launched on Steam instead, for no apparent reason other than to pollute the store and lower the average quality of games on Steam. Mission successful. I think this was probably developed as a mobile app but rejected by the app stores because they have higher quality standards than Valve does. While this is free, it should never have been put on Steam, it would be more appropriate for this to be put on the app stores where the mobile peasants can enjoy what they would consider to be highly rich and complex gameplay.

Графика, учитывая возраст игры, вполне приличная, хотя анимация персонажей немного деревянная. Главное достоинство – атмосфера. Тесные коридоры корабля, ограниченная видимость и постоянное ощущение опасности создают напряжение, заставляющее держать в тонусе. Звуковое сопровождение также работает на атмосферу, с криками монстров и скрипом металла. Боевая система проста, но эффективна. Игроки используют оружие с системой инфракрасного прицеливания, чтобы выявлять и уничтожать мутантов. Ресурсы ограничены, поэтому приходится экономить патроны и выбирать цели. Хотя у игры есть свои недостатки (несколько линейный геймплей и некоторая повторяемость локаций), "Carrier" остается интересным и атмосферным хоррором, который стоит попробовать поклонникам жанра и владельцам Dreamcast. Это не шедевр, но хорошая игра, способная пощекотать нервы.

Too stressful and arbitrary for the artwork and passive game mechanics. I would recommend the authors play some more retro puzzle games like Blorox etc to get a feel for pacing
