Controls

・Player movement: Move up, down, left, and right.・Shot: Your standard attack.・Bomb: A special attack. The type can be chosen during character select, and each has its own characteristics, so pick your favorite and have fun. It's a very powerful attack, but be careful—the number of uses is limited.・Focus Mode: Slow your movement speed for finer control.Gamepad button assignments can be changed via the Key Config in the game's Options menu.

Story

Gensokyou has been blanketed in a scarlet mist.Hakurei Shrine maiden, Reimu Hakurei, and Marisa Kirisame, a magician living in the Forest of Magic, set out to resolve the incident.She awaited them inside the Western-style mansion that materialized amidst the mist.

it's good and it's my favorite of the touhou series. it's accessible without being baby easy. was able to clear lunatic without a continue in a few tries. I love this game immensely and I have many opinions on it, some too drawn out to get into here. I started with it and by god I stick by it. Great music, Scarlet Belvedere is my favorite ending track in this entire series, fight me irl /j. Also for those wondering about performance, being a remake of a game from like August 2002 it gets consistent 60fps on my I Use Arch Btw computer and it doesn't even need any third party Proton packages or anything. It does have failings, but they're failings I accept and choose to look past because it reminds me why I like shmups to begin with.

Touhou 6: Koumakyou is such an iconic entry in the series, I am so glad that it got remade and you can play both the new version as well as the original classic version. I played the original version years ago and it was my first bullet hell experience, since then I fell in love with the gameplay of the touhou series and it also got me into the genre as a whole and I got into other Shmup games because of it. Despite it being known as "Touhou six, Koumakyou, the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil" it is technically the "first" game in the series, as the previous 5 games are semi-canon while this one is completely canon. There is a learning curve, but that's the fun part of it. I can definitely recommend this game, I ALWAYS recommended touhou 6 for beginners, even before it got remade. The reason for that is because it has the most memorable and iconic characters and OST, and pretty decent bullet patterns which are fun to dodge. That's why it's perfect for beginners in the series. I even managed to 1CC with Marisa A on normal difficulty with enough practice. Touhou 6 is definitely one of my favorite Shmups of all time. I hope Shanghai Alice Reprise remakes Touhou 7: Perfect Cherry Blossom…
