Made a new world and went bankrupted straight away.

Citalis is an abominable, albeit functional, incremental mess of a city builder. Don’t be fooled by the storefront promos: the pleasantly pastel veneer of this “city sim” belies a gameplay loop with all the depth of a spring puddle. Think of it as a lobotomized Sim City or a wind-up toy. The loop looks okay at its surface: the player has 4 choices of building types (Commercial, Residential, Park… and Aquafer/Water plant) in three walled “areas” corresponding to the three major categories. You’re primarily tasked with managing the happiness of your citizens while growing your income through your build; if you’re playing badly, you’ve either forgotten to manually clear the “Crime” bar on your Commercial properties or you’ve let your water treatment plants overflow. That might almost sound limited but reasonable pre-install. However! The very few interactions are tedious and braindead: I repeat, parks and water supply keep crime at bay (what?), and again: the only point of the game is to grow your income to build more income generating buildings. The core gameplay revolves around placing different types of zones across a floating island landscape. Residential, commercial, and recreational areas must be arranged in a way that keeps the city functional while generating income. Businesses act as the primary source of revenue, but they are sensitive to the surrounding conditions. If crime rises, the environment deteriorates, or the city becomes unattractive, those businesses can fail, cutting off income and triggering a downward spiral. The game has a good concept but it gets boring over time since theres not much to the game. But its really relaxing and cozy so I reccomend 👍
