Citizens of Earth

I was told this was spiritually Earthbound, but don't be fooled, it isn't. It doesn't have the same charm, humor, nor same art style and the quests and maps are much more clunky than Earthbound. I think we all have to collectively agree that there will never be another Earthbound, hence why Nintendo doesn't try to make a new one either.

The party is stretched too thin to be interesting and frankly a lot of the political jokes aged REAL poorly given current events. If you were interested in this game and can't find it on Steam, it isn't sold standalone anymore. Look for "Citizens Unite" - which is this game and its sequel in a bundle.

Status effects legitimately don't work. 6 stacks of blind and the enemy still hits straight through it 6 turns in a row. Game sucks Upon further review. yeah this game just sucks. Everyone is a builder/spender and despite stacking an entire group to boost Special attack and hitting weakness i might as well just spam the basic move. After all the setup you spend 3 turns to do like 1.2x what you wouldve done if you just held down A. It really is baby's first RPG with a mix of gambling

Played this during the inital phase of the Covid shutdown, but this is a wholesomely unhinged rpg where you go around recruiting everyday people and levelling them up /empowering them to fight for you. It smacks of Earthbound at times because I think that was lowkey the point. Felt kinda homage-y to me, but it was definitely an interesting one if you can get it on other gaming platforms.
