Collector's Cove

This one is hard to score, as the first zone is fun and chill...but then problems start to show once you unlock the next two areas. This game is also absolutely NOT worth its asking price. I got it on sale for $15, and I still feel like that was too expensive for what the game is offering. While I understand very well how much work it is to make a game, what is offered and structure needs to be taken into account as this game is pretty much the same game loop throughout the entire thing. That, however, is not the big issues which causes me to not recommend the game. Let's start with the Pros: -Good character customization; plenty of outfits and hair/eye colors to choose from. Male hair styles are severely lacking, but you can wear a hat if you don't like the options. I've really enjoyed my time with Collector's Cove so far. It's exactly the sort of cosy game I can happily spend an evening with, sailing around at my own pace, discovering new islands and gradually building up my floating farm. What I enjoyed most was just how relaxing everything feels. There's always something worthwhile to do, whether that's fishing, gathering resources, tending crops or simply setting off to see what lies over the horizon. The colourful visuals and peaceful atmosphere make it very easy to lose track of time, and I found myself constantly saying, "I'll just visit one more island." I also liked having an animal companion travelling alongside me, which gives the whole adventure even more charm. If I had one criticism, it's that the islands can begin to feel a little too similar after a while. They're still enjoyable to explore, but I would have liked a bit more variety between them. The other thing worth mentioning is the price. I bought the game during a sale and felt it was excellent value. At full price, however, I can see why some players might hesitate before picking it up. It's a VERY simple game, not something that I can play for hours as there just isn't that much to do--I've only played the first set of islands, but they're all very small so they don't take long, so travelling takes up most of the time. I'm not much of a fisher though the fishing isn't hard which I appreciate - but I would really love a bug catching mechanic and I really hope they add one to the islands later!!!

So, this isn't a particularly complicated game, with a straightforward game loop: Go to a new area, fish and farm while you bounce from island to island. Once you've fished/farmed enough to unlock bait/fertilizer recipes, use those until you get the secret to unlock the Fabled version of the fish/crop. Head to a new area, repeat. No combat, no NPC relationships, no sleep required (although you do get a buff if you sleep), no need to grind huge amounts of money, no significant QTEs. It's a soothing and relaxing game overall, so if that's what you're after - absolutely recommended.

Cute and relaxing, a bit grindy but I like those kinds of games. Some fun puns and jokes with the fabled items you can collect.

This is game is a must play if you just want to lay back and relax. Its got a stardew valley and animal crossing feel in it to me. The atmospheric music is great. My favorite bit so far is that your companion will alert you when you reach your destination (If you don't keep track of the route progress in the top left) or even alert you when there's approaching floating barrels for you to grab with the plunger gun mounted on your boat. The fishing minigame is simple. I just wish when you were chopping or mining, you could hold down the button instead of continuously clicking, but i'm not upset about it. So far, a 10/10 from me without a doubt.
