As far as co-op ARPGs go this is one of the two I've ever managed to clear and I had a good time doing it. I really enjoyed the strong family themes combined with the art design as something that felt like a unique spin on not just ARPGs but co-op games generally. I also did not expect to have as a good a time as we did with the buildcraft, especially building megapowerful equipment out of set bonus-style affix formulae. All in all, if you are looking for a co-op hangout game that respects your time and isn't a bloated live service beast, this is a game for you.1 found this helpful
For the devs: You have all the art assets to make an Baldur's Gate 3 style game. You should make one and conquer the world. Thanks!1 found this helpful
I don't typically leave reviews, but the game has so few reviews that every positive counts! Generally speaking, I enjoyed my time with Corriden. The combat is solid, the story is compelling, and there are plenty of talent trees available to keep things interesting for the duration of the game. I especially enjoyed the verticality of exploration (which isn't something I was expecting). One big criticism I have of the game is the Alterant system (basically, how weapons/armor are upgraded). The tutorial for how the system works is painfully basic, so it took me until almost the end of the game to fully understand how the system worked. By then, spending the time to gather the resources needed to properly upgrade my gear before going into the final area didn't feel worth the time. Overall however, the game was enjoyable, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fun ARPG with a fairly focused storyline that'll take under 20 hours to beat. Oh, and the co-op is also fun, with plenty of versatility in the talent tree for shenanigans to be had...
Coridden is a fun ARPG with a shapeshifting mechanic. The dual forms and split ability resource bars encourages shifting in combat, recharging one form's resource while the other is active. There are four fairly standard classes to choose from, but what I'm really enjoying is the custom class. The custom class allows a player to pick any three skill trees and build a class to fit their own playstyle. Each creature form has its own pair of skill trees as well; one pre-defined and one we get to choose from a set of 2 or 3 options. Some elemental attacks and some creature forms have special abilities required for progression so it encourages players to collect and carry a few different forms and different creature builds as they progress. There are also some areas that require a mount to reach, and the mount can be another player in creature form. There are a few design choices that have frustrated me, but those issues are fairly minor and don't ruin the game for me. While there are waypoint markers for quest objectives the route to reach them is rarely a direct line. There is a guidance system that creates a burst of sparkles to follow, but it has to be set manually every…
Very underrated game. There are a lot of good things. Many mechanics of the game well done. One might want to tweak the command for controller, put the sprint with the same button as the camera rotation. Take out the button for camera zoom, if you want use another button to activate it. Yes, the camera movement is configured to be used with right stick but you need to hold another button to activate it. So just an example, put only the rotation movement to be activate with the sprint command on the right trigger. It is just an idea to make exploration more fluent. I was surprise how well done are the features of this game.
Good indie ARPG. Missing a lot of QOL features that modern ARPGs have. The component system for weapons is cool but the difficulty in using it really puts me off. There should be better inventory management for gems and stuff, with better ways to find common tags. You have to fight against the menus to manage all the different items, and for what? A 10% increase in damage? Unlike some other games I feel as though they put too much depth into the item and component system when the game doesn't warrant it. There are too many items, too many item slots, too many components and the UX isn't mature enough to sort through it. It's cool in theory that every beast has it's own collection of 3 skill trees.. But I don't want to manage 20 different skill trees... Can't some of these beasts just have 2 or 3 abilities? I don't want to play menu fighter. I like switching back and forth between beast mode and human mode to do damage. The combat is good and fluid. This is the meat & potatoes of the game so it's great that they got it right, though I feel like the default hotkeys should have been given more thought to be ergonomic. I love Battlerite style combat. If you like V-Rising or Battle…
