If you are interested in the Creatures series but are afraid to jump right into the most advanced one (C3) C1 is a great place to start. A must-have for anyone interested in the idea of an 'advanced' virtual pet game. Your health kit will most likely be broken when you start the game; you can look up the fix for this as it's a quick renaming thing to fix. Then try launching the Health Kit while the game is running (from your Creatures folder) and it will work. Trying to launch it in admin mode can also work. Once you fix this the game is good. Community patches are available online for QOL fixes.4 found this helpful

if you've never played creatures before, and you're into virtual pets or a-life style games where you take care of little critters, PLAY THIS GAME. i haven't played creatures 2 yet, i wanted to start with creatures 1 to help get me introduced and because it was the first one i learned about, and i can't overstate how badass this game is. it is definitely the type of game where you have to make your own fun, and it really doesn't tell you what the hell you're doing, which sucks, but i've had a blast combing through old websites to learn more about the game and how the norns work. for a quick rundown on the game and how cool it is: think of the sims except you basically have no real control. you hatch a norn, and take it up to the computer to start teaching it commands. there's a set of 14 commands you can teach your norn to interact with the world, and then like 15 or so categories of objects your norn can interact with. they can learn very basic language, and teach it to their children. norns have a simplified version of our bodies down to simplified versions of testosterone/estrogen cycles, adrenaline levels, etc, even a simplified version of our genome. over time, you will crea…1 found this helpful

some of the recent reviews say they cant get the game to work and i ran into this as well. im not sure what happened with *them* (im playing creatures 2) but for me, i just had to launch the game again. i didnt use the default world and if your world asks for a password when you selected there not to be one, continue on anyway and it worked for me. gave me a warning it might not work, but its been fine. a little buggy at times where my norn got stuck in one place but i just exported and imported to teleport her and it fixed her. a lot of stuff ive ran into can be fixed with "turn it off and on again" lol love this game so far, highkey i wish i grew up with it. not for people who dont want to take their time, though frfr
