"cyber_serpent" is an ultra simple "Tron meets shmup" tech demo that was probably slapped together in the space of an afternoon, after which, inexplicably, $100 was wasted publishing this on Steam Direct. And here we are. What do you do in the game? Not much, it's largely a score attack shooter where you grow your snake thing by eating stuff and also occasionally shoot things. If you can stay awake. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. This game features very lacklustre minimalist 2D "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy". Yes, contemporary 3D graphics take a lot of time and effort to create. That doesn't mean it's okay not to bother! Developers must try to understand that gaming is a visual medium, and gamers spend a lot of money on high end gaming rigs for a reason. And…

Exactly what it says on the tin: It's a twin-stick combined with Nokia Snake. What it offers is simple, but well executed. The game controls well, has an interesting scoring system, some good challenges within its two game modes and even has online leaderboards, despite being free. A good little time waster when you need it!

Very nice snake clone. Getting 100k wasn't easy! I just got over it and got in the top 20 as a result so it was quite a high bar. The trick is getting most of the points with your first life as after wave 50 things get pretty unmanageable. A good game to play in the background while you listen to a podcast.

I found it dull and not worth playing.

Simple and fun. I'm not exactly raring to keep challenging my scores, though, and I'm glad it's free.
