"CYBERDAD" is a student project from DigiPen. One of the first things students should be taught in game development is that 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid 1990's with dedicated 3D cards like the Voodoo3 and the ATI Rage. But the students were deliberately mistaught that's it's okay to release obsolete 2D games in the 3D era of gaming... certainly any professional developer seeing a prospective new hire who doesn't even know about 3D gaming probably isn't going to give them a job. Likewise, the students were taught that it's okay to dump pixelcrap on Steam, and somehow that will get them hired... it absolutely won't. Needless to say if an educational institution taught me incorrectly on purpose, I'd ask for my money back. CYBERDAD is an extremely badly made 2D top down twin stick shooter with some kind of lame theme about a cybernetic father shooting pixel blobs to rescue his daughter. This is probably one of the worst student projects to come out of DigiPen. We also have to question what value there is for gamers on Steam when institutions flood the store with low quality 2D video game homework assignments... sure, it might make the students feel good about themse…1 found this helpful
I skipped the introductory cut scene by mistake, which somewhat prompted me to pay more attention to the email narrative, which was difficult in its own right for the choice of font color and backlighting for the chat logs. The game started to ramp up difficulty and I recalled my time in the Gungeon, but it was sadly over by that point. I would have liked far more pressure that could have put my bombs and laser gun to use. This particular craving in tandem with the literal question mark on the ending enticed me to press play again, but it seems I may have encountered a bug of one completion per boot. The game is a postal point-and-click twin-stick, a formulaic foray into a Nerve game fundamental of enemy swarms. Mechanically, a "shooter" is either a beater or a spotter- depending on the perspective, in my opinion. On the level of instantiated analysis there is an argument for oscillation between both, since spotters will involve performing actions that allow visuals of a certain target, and beaters involve the actions taken with the target in sight. The point-of-view perspective for an FPS simply means that the player's field of view necessitates active peripheral awareness. Gung…
Nice idea but falls a bit flat. You die way too easily and enemies are hit sponges. The level designs are very basic. I like they added lore and some story but the game play wore me out after the first few enemy encounters.
Trash ending
Short and fun. Cyberdad is a short 2D shooter where you must rescue your daughter from an evil tech company. That's basically it. The game isn't that difficult. You can find a few extra weapons, a stun mine, and some lore. If the series gets continued or gets another update, I would suggest adding a bit more settings and a mini map option. There were a few bugs related to UI, but nothing too severe. As for other things, the music is nice.
