Darksy's Adventure is a free low-poly 3D platformer that draws mixed reactions from players. Supporters appreciate its accessible level design, charming retro aesthetic, and complete lack of monetization, finding it a worthwhile offering for 3D platformer fans. Critics point to frustrating level design with oversized stages, limited attack range, tedious minigames and enemy encounters, and overall lack of polish compared to established platformers like Spyro.
"Darksy's Adventure" is a consolesque low poly low quality third person action platformer where you control some animal thing and jump around some really poor low poly environments. I think you'd be better off paying for Spyro or one of the console ported platformers that has a lot more polish and quality than this. This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. One developer made this and I must say, quite good. Very original and fun, with colorful levels. My biggest problems are with the high difficulty spike, lack of polish on some levels and an unfair final boss / 2nd final level. A lot of the levels have stuff scattered around, but not snapped to a "grid", which is especially noticable with jumping platforms in 5-1 and 6-1, forcing you to "guess" your jumps. Do a tail sweep, or a pounce? Just guess! If those last 2 worlds were tweaked a little, this would be an absolute "Yes". Other than that problem, it's actually very fun. I like the powerups, the characters and their designs, and the little cutscenes.
Honestly its bad, its levels are too big, the attack has barely any reach, the moles are a pain in the ass, the minigames suck, but atleast it was free
Lots of potential, but way too frustrating!
Can't believe a fan of Bubsy 3D exist besides me! Darksy's Adventure is fun, easy to pick up and play and most of all... has low poly unity graphic... can't say no to that! The fact it's free its a steal. The game and level design overall is really good! I want to strongly raccomand this, for every fan of 3d platformers out there. This is a good one. By the way, when you loose a life... it's that a referance to Super Lucky's Tale/New Super Lucky's Tale? If it is, its really cute. That game is awsome! Still didn't finish it, but i already hope to see a follow up to Darksy's adventure someday!
