Placing enemies around corners to ambush you is nothing more than a cheap trick. Also, the dialogue between characters is pretty cringe. 4/10.

The game has too many points of frustration to make it enjoyable. On the surface, it looks like a fun and familiar action horror experience, but is let down by several shortcomings. - There is no weapon variety: you receive an SMG and a Shotgun at the start of the game, and that's it. You receive the Frost Gauntlet fairly early into the game, and while it is a decent gimmick, it doesn't offer enough combat variety to carry the game. It doesn't help that the only time the SMG just doesn't feel like "the bad weapon" is when you're shooting at collectibles. - Very low enemy variety, and seeing the same few enemies pop up constantly gets old really quickly when the strategy to fight them never evolves or changes. This is exacerbated by the next point. - Enemy encounters feel really lazy, with enemies mostly just teleporting into the room, or often camping behind corners, which removes a lot of tension from the progression and can lead to received damage feeling cheap and undeserved. - The level design is extremely linear with almost no exploration, and the times you have to backtrack through areas, they're often not altered in any way, or even repopulated with enemies, leaving yo…

I found Daymare 1998,way better than this 1994 unnecessarily prolonged all this corridors, ladders, stairs oh gosh,in addition we have same type of enemies,that spawning over and over again,till the very end,The thing soon to become boring.DLSS5 mod somehow save the day for me.i have a very mix feeling about this game,even though i bought it on sale for 11.99€ i still believe the price is not right yet.For me it's 6/10 average survival horror.

really fun game with a good story and great combat. the auto aim is annoying since it jumps to the legs first than the head. my only compliant is i missed the reload the clips and then reload the gun. But it makes sense with the way the game is made.

Edit: Have now finished the game, few updated thoughts. 1. I now understand why they cast the guy they did for my point #2 in the cons. It doesn't really help the story any but least I see what they attempted. 2. The story is still absolutely terrible but the game is a lot of fun if you like the RE games. So I just focused on the gameplay and not the really horribly written story. 3. Its no surprise that they ripped off RE for this, but they even ripped off stargate... 4. The "easter eggs" are to obviously placed and silly to be neat finds. Was not a fan of that either. I still recommend it because it's a decent length, the gameplay is fairly fun if you like RE games and the level design is pretty nice. I did grow tired of the puzzles, but only because they are identical the entire time with one small addition later on. Soon as I unlocked the challenge for a "very hard" puzzle and could turn on the skip puzzles option, I did that. I will say I am unlikely to replay this game or the original anytime soon which is what sets it apart from the RE games which I have played many times over.
