About Dead End Job

Dead End Job sends you into a madcap, Ren & Stimpy-esque world to bust up ghosts. It’s a procedurally generated, couch co-op, twin-stick shooter that straps a vacuum pack to your back, and puts a plasma blaster in your hand. For you, it’s just another day in the office.
- Exorcise restaurants, offices and other buildings.
- Use a plasma blaster, your trusty vacuum pack and a whole range of supernatural items.
- Save your mentor's soul or she'll spend eternity as a spook (voted “Least Preferred Fate” in Ghost Hunter Monthly).
- So many ghosts.
- A madcap story written by IGF nominee Xalavier Nelson Jr
- Drop in/drop out couch co-op, as your mentor appears to lend a hand!
- Stunning cartoon-quality artwork inspired by 90’s favourites like Ren & Stimpy.
- Actually, maybe too many ghosts?
- Featuring original music by the award-winning Will Morton (Grand Theft Auto series).
- Twitch and Mixer integration allows viewers to help or hinder the streamer.
- Seriously, can someone please get rid of all of these ghosts?

Please note that Dead End Job supports mouse & keyboard controls for single player, but couch co-op requires at least one player to use a controller.
Familiar Haunts
You take on the role of Hector Plasm, a worker at Ghoul-B-Gone – ‘the Number One experts in paranormal pest control’ – as you’re tasked with heading to haunted offices, restaurants, and other everyday buildings before freeing them of unwanted guests. One minute you're sucking up specters, the next you're sucking up to your bosses, chasing that promotion.
Have you got what it takes to be the best at putting pests to rest?

Don’t Suck… Well, Actually Do
Exercise that fighting spirit, since every specter you snag and every resident you rescue is added to your client’s bill at the end of the job. Haunted by the ghost of your mentor, quite literally, you must learn the ropes and to save her soul before she’s forced to spend eternity as a spook (voted “Least Preferred Fate” in Ghost Hunter Monthly).

Kindred Spirits
Play alone or bust ghosts with a buddy in drop in / drop out co-op that works seamlessly within the main adventure. Plus you can play to an audience with Twitch and Mixer interactivity that allows viewers to help or hinder your assault on the afterlife.

Ghost Writer
Do you love 90's cartoons? Yeah, so do we, and we grew up on their stretchy squishy gross-out laughs. Our love for them spills over into the game like so much ectoplasm. See every nose hair in wacky, vibrant art that brings everyday items to life as screwball spooks to suck up. To top it off, the entire adventure is backed by music from the award-winning Will Morton (Grand Theft Auto series).

This is one of those games where I wish Steam had something besides Yes or No for if you recommend the game. Dead End Job is a semi-decent twin-stick shooter that has enough issues that I can't recommend it at full price. It would probably only be worth picking up massively on sale or in a bundle. One of the major issues with the game is that many items don't have descriptions telling you exactly what they do. Using them doesn't always give an obvious effect and some seem to only do something cosmetic. Some items seem to only do bad things to you. Despite this, you can only carry 2 items at a time and you can't drop them or swap them with items you find on the ground. You can only pick up items if you have a free slot. To make this worse, you can't choose to not pick up an item if you walk over it (although thankfully the pickup range is fairly small). This can make it annoying to deal with items that you don't want or that have negative effects, since if you accidentally walk over it and pick it up the only way to get rid of it is to activate the effect. This issue is made much worse by healing items. You can only use them when you're missing health. So if you have 2 healing ite…2 found this helpful
Definitely worth the $0.84 at 95% off of $17 I paid for it. Pros - It's engaging. - It's challenging and fun to master how to go about clearing rooms. - Vibrant cartoon-like art style that reminds me of Ren & Stimpy. - Replay-ability... Many hours of gameplay. - Sound design is nice. (excluding the music, see below) - Collectathon elements are strong and really keep me going. - A wide variety of enemy types and you can give them all nicknames. (I used Ghostbuster characters!) - Backtracking is actually good and allows you to clear levels neatly without confusion of where to go. - Smooth gameplay and even positive/negative effects on movement are well executed. - Level design gets pretty nice as you progress further into the game. Neutrals - Writing is pretty decent but I just felt it's not great or bad so I'm neutral on it. - The gun overheats constantly. I'm neutral on this because you can use the skill to lower the overheating and it's only annoying when vacuuming up every single piece of debris in the room(which I choose to do just because). - Items definitely need more concrete effects and description of those effects. Only reason this is neutral is because it's not a con for…
Its just not very good, the premise is there and the core idea is fun enough. But its just so clunky. The level layout is intrusive, the info about you pickups is non-existent. The movement has delay. What little fun could be had is just ruined by the problems this game has. That combined with no support for ultrawide monitors just makes it an less than enjoyable experience.
I'm sorry to say that this game is a real downer. The graphics and sounds are great but the fact that objects after being destroyed don't disappear means that, under almost every circumstance, you will lose health by simply being boxed into the wrong spot and either bumped into or shot by one of the ghosts. This makes it more like a Darksouls experience where you WILL die again, and again, and again. I'd say don't buy this game unless it's on sale and you enjoy a really challenging game.
Brilliant comic top down shooter doesn`t take itself too seriously great fun !!
Really fun bullet hell game, pretty hard tho
