On the surface, it appears almost aggressively simple: a lone golf ball, a hole in the sand, and an endless desert stretching off into the horizon. There are no menus demanding attention, no tutorials explaining systems, and no clear endpoint promising completion. Instead, Desert Golfing asks players to engage with a single mechanic over and over again, stripping the act of play down to its purest form. The premise revolves entirely around taking golf shots across a procedurally generated desert. Each hole exists only long enough to be completed before the camera scrolls forward and reveals the next stretch of sand. There is no par, no time pressure, and no concept of winning or losing in a traditional sense. Your only measurable progress is the hole counter steadily increasing and the total number of shots taken creeping upward. I'm currently at hole 2601; I think it's a pretty good game. Has everything it needs, nothing it doesn't.
