About DreamBreak

'This looks like the most terrible mix of differing types of gameplay. I must have it!' - RPS Commenter
An authoritarian state pacifying the masses with propaganda. A brutal police force that shoots first then shoots some more.
An ordinary everyman named Eugene, dragged by coincidence and circumstance from a life of mundane menial tasks into a baffling world of sudden, inexplicable murder, hidden conspiracy and unrelentingly lethal robots with nasty sharp pincers and lasers coming out of everywhere.
Depicted in a distinctive pixel art style the cyberpunk city crackles with tech-noir intrigue and neo-digital deceptions. Using every tool at your disposal help Eugene to unpick the knot of mystery that he has become enmeshed within – your equilibrium will be rocked as you point and click a path through this briar patch of tangled meaning and unexpected quixotic quirks.
Will Eugene make sense of the conundrum that unfolds before him, learn who is an ally or a foe and collect lots of vinyl records for his listening pleasure? He'll race rapid hover bikes to earn sub-cultural respect, rub shoulders with high society in a post-modern nightclub, hack the brains of pursuing drone cops in thrill-packed chase sequences, strive to survive tense shootouts with merciless law enforcers and enjoy some 8-bit cowboy coin-op action in a dingy dive bar with a broken toilet.
  • Multiple endings
  • Unique blend of action, point and click in a dystopian future
  • Get fingered for murder and get away with it!

DreamBreak is an action-driven adventure set in an alternative-history cyberpunk Soviet Union. Inspired by classic cinematic platformers, it blends exploration, platforming, and varied retro-style action sequences into a compact experience. The pixel art is expressive and atmospheric, with layered environments and strong use of colour, supported by a distinctive electronic soundtrack. Gameplay remains engaging and varied, even if some mechanics feel rough around the edges. While the story raises intriguing political and dystopian themes, its narrative foundations remain thin. Still, DreamBreak works best as an audiovisual and mechanical experience — a flawed but entertaining homage to old-school action-adventures.

DreamBreak is a short but stylistically bold cyberpunk adventure that revels in atmosphere more than narrative clarity or mechanical smoothness. Developed and published by Fortell Games, it presents a dystopian city built from grimy neon pixels, oppressive architecture, and post–Cold War gloom. You inhabit the role of Eugene, an unassuming janitor whose life unravels the moment he stumbles into a conspiracy that should have remained hidden. What begins as a quiet, almost mundane existence quickly spirals into suspicion, murder accusations, encounters with authoritarian police forces, and brushes with an underground resistance movement. The setting evokes alternate-history Eastern Europe with its blend of retro futurism, state surveillance, and social decay, and from the first few minutes the game establishes a mood of gritty fatalism that carries through the rest of the journey. Gameplay is a hybrid of point-and-click puzzles, brief action segments, environmental exploration, and small arcade-like diversions. You move from dingy apartments to shadowy alleyways, from mechanized checkpoints to crowded bars, clicking on objects, solving small environmental puzzles, and navigating seq…

+ It is classic old school puzzle story platformer. I like on the game one thing the most. Difficulty is not hardcore like other retro platformers. But not easy. It is worth of the price and 6hours was enough for me. - There were several „pipe mania puzzle“ that was a bit repetetive.
