I don't think the developer should advertise the programming thing in the videos or preview. I feel like it is misleading and I can't give it a positive review for that reason: On the outside it looked like there was some deep integration with the game itself that allowed a degree of arbitrary programming to complete certain tasks. The feature turned out to be just a decorated menu system you need to interact with occasionally. This was kind of disappointing and I would go further say it went from something I was excited for into a kind of annoying feature. I guess it ads a little bit of atmosphere but I started playing and quickly got bored and have not finished. Based on the way it is portrayed I feel like developer might have envisioned a more arbitrary system and it might have just been too difficult to pull off gracefully in a way that keeps the game under-control. I think that is why I was kind of excited for it: it seems like something that would be challenging to pull off and offer some unique gameplay. The good news is I think I prove people are there to play it if the dev comes out with something with a significantly more arbitrary system.1 found this helpful
Beautiful game. I love the story, the messages it has, the music, the dialogues, the characters. All is truly amazing. I love the atmosphere so much of it. I loved playing the prologue and loved this game. The messages it has have truly inspired me. I love this game a lot. I could sit in it for hours just to enjoy the sound, music and visuals it has. Truly a mesmerizing game. Very beautiful work! Some puzzles were difficult but it was fun trying to crack them...some I did had to find the solution haha.
Only thing is that I thought the Grant part of the story was a bit much. It felt out of place, felt like they did something way more extreme being in the scene with the fires instead of them just having a buggy game. I am assuming you going for extreme since the internet can be very cruel but it still didn't feel realistic. Like a donation be taken back because the pc crashed and everyone being mad at an indie game. That could have happened from the buggy game or not (I know it happened from the game). Nonetheless a truly amazing game!
1 found this helpful
Could've been a fun game even on it's linear nature, if the programing made any sense. The initial tasks made me remember my first experiences with programming as a kid, like using global variables across classes as well as patching and hacking features poorly, which was kind of endearing. I was hoping to eventually get to a little more interesting uses of the programming system but that never happened and I ended up abandoning the game once it wanted me to solve a problem in a way that made no sense, like assigning a function with no return to a variable and somehow the variable acquires a value from another variable from the function. Would've been a lot of fun if it was a very simple, yet correct and creative use of the programming feature but it's not.
Yeahh im still the PADDLE goat
Really nice and sensitive game. As a startup founder/builder I can relate with many situations there :) :/ Playing it provides me a mix of feelings - and that made me feel alive (and not alone in this world to be conquered). To summarize, it has an amazing game design and SFX! Also, the playability is so smooth and intuitive - that got me in love for this game. Congrats to anyone involved in this. Good luck.
Very nice game to pass the time and actually get hooked
