About Drill Rift
The dwarfs broke into a cave deeper than any before it. Inside it our scouts found an open rift, a portal to somewhere else. The King of the Mountain gave one order: send a crew, build an outpost, and extract everything you can. You arrive with four workers and just enough supplies to last the first few days. The rest is up to you in this punishing game.To keep your outpost running, you'll need to build and upgrade key machinery. Choose your upgrades carefully; resources are limited, and every level could mean the difference between progress and collapse. The deeper you drill the more your madness will rise, beware of the depths. There are creatures that will use your madness to locate your outpost and if that happens no amount of Mythril will appease them. When you send dwarfs to events their stats will act as a modifier on the dice. Make strategic decisions on who you send as if their health drops too low or they go mad the outpost will be doomed.

I played the demo a good bit before release, but the final product so far doesn't add much. The research tree seems to be twice as long as what I'm able to access, even after 2-3 full runs (one of which was past 10000m). There are also issues with inputs not working upon loading into a game in progress. I honestly love the parts of the game I've gotten to play, but I can't in good conscious recommend a game that is barely discernible from the demo, for a $15 price tag3 found this helpful
Really liked the game, but not worth its price. Skip to the final line for my final thoughts if you don't wanna read a lot It has potential, and the gameplay loop is simple and fun enough, but oh boy is it short, past 6100m it just repeats the same 2-3 events, and by golly does it have a lot of bugs And by bugs i mean game breaking bugs. Dwarfs not being able to upgrade and permanently being stuck at 0/3 till upgrade, the UI being ontop of one another (when the worm is present and you're finishing a delivery)(when you're clicking too fast the drill ui can be ontop of your events), runes can randomly change into your previous configuration and around 10000m repairing and ending day stops working, which means a slow burn game over around 12000m even if you succeed all events all the time and no worm appears While i will give a thumbs up cause i enjoyed it, i wouldn't recommend anyone buy the game unless it's massively discounted by like 60% or the price drops enough to a justifiable level1 found this helpful
This game feels incredibly bare-bones. Barely any content. Fairly easy to beat everything there is, I think. It feels as though the game is just continuing without end and there's no more achievements to be gotten. (Got to 10K so far and no real challenge in sight, got enough mythril for 2 more deliveries stocked up in the stash. This is, by the way, my first try.). And 15 euro for this? No. No way.1 found this helpful
Drill Rift is a turn-based strategy game from Steam Veil Games where you manage a remote drilling outpost deep underground. You oversee dwarves, upgrade machinery, manage resources, and push deeper while balancing efficiency against growing madness, with clear eldritch undertones if you dig too far. Pros ✔️ Eldritch themes work for me - I’ll admit I’m biased here, but the creeping “you should not be doing this” vibe adds some nice flavor to the management loop. ✔️ The drilling mechanic is neat - Digging deeper feels purposeful, and it’s a satisfying central mechanic to build the game around. ✔️ Machinery systems make sense - The way the moving parts and upgrades fit together feels logical and easy to understand. Cons ❌ Day-to-day progression isn’t clearly communicated - I really wanted some kind of clearer transition between days, like a lights-out moment or reset, to help pace things better. ❌ Technology unlocks feel underpowered at first - Unlocking a new tech only to have it start effectively at level zero feels rough and a bit deflating. ❌ Party composition lacks agency - I would’ve liked to choose my starting dwarves instead of being assigned them, especially since they don…1 found this helpful
Has some interesting gameplay, but with the little amount of content it gives as well as the cheap AI looking backgrounds I wouldn't buy this for more than $5 if even. I've paid less than that for games that feel way less cheap and have more content,
I should have listened to reviews that said just play the demo. The full game has the features, quality, and polish of a crappy demo. I got it because I like the art. I hope the $$ helps the developer make it into a full-featured game that doesn't suck.
