Innovative and easy mechanics, recommended to make your wallet slightly lighter to have a few days of fun. Better than one or two pack of cigarettes but also addictive as ♥♥♥♥. Enjoy!1 found this helpful
Fun but flawed. Fans of Into the Breach will find a rather hilarious 10 hours in here but it doesn't have legs. The root of this is "too many teams, not enough to distinguish between them." So, each playable character has one 'perk' that can be leveled up. If you cut the number of teams in half (10 down from 19), gave every character two perks, and made them all half as expensive, I'm almost certain it's just a better game and one where a much higher number of players want to go the full distance. Had a great time with it, but I think it will continue to be an obscure find for people googling "like Into the Breach."
Dungeon Deathball, developed and published by Matt Glanville, is a creative hybrid of tactical strategy, roguelike progression, and sports-inspired gameplay that defies easy classification. It takes the simplicity of turn-based movement and fuses it with the tension of a high-stakes arena challenge, producing a game that feels both immediately accessible and strategically deep. Rather than relying on complex lore or drawn-out campaign structures, it focuses on moment-to-moment decision-making, where every move has weight, every turn matters, and every mistake is brutally punished. The result is an experience that is short in session length but rich in challenge, ideal for players who enjoy thinking several moves ahead in compact, replayable bursts. The premise is delightfully strange: you control a small team of gladiators trapped in a dungeon-like arena where the only way to survive is to win a deadly ball game. Each match tasks you with navigating a grid-based field filled with traps, monsters, and hazards while trying to deliver a ball to the end zone. It’s a sport where precision and planning trump reflexes, and where your opponents are just as deadly as the field itself. What…
TOUCHDOWN!! Very fun neat little tactics game where you can win the match by either defeating the enemies on the grid, or taking the ball past the goal line. Each approach has it's own outcome. There are 3 classes which are Carrier, Runner, and Brawler that each excel at a certain part of the 'combat' a little more than the others, the amount of balls there are can really make some interesting combo's as well
Imagine football, where you throw the ball at your enemies to deal damage or punch them yourself, mixed with a Turn Par system, with gems to collect on the field and modifiers that increase the challenge for more score. That score is used to determine the money you get, which can purchase stamina, offense, and special perk that could do a variety of fun effects. Because every enemy shows what action you do, you can also learn how to manipulate enemies into attacking each other and weave through their ranks. The Con: you can expect the majority of the enemies to show up, and the only 2 boss encounters being the same on top of it, makes every run encounter very similar obstacles every single time. This means that the most variety you get per playthrough is just from the units you use. The Pro: there's actually a LOT of different perks available. your units can only have one, and nearly every "starter deck" chooses the starting party member perks for you. but they can have a lot of fun effects that can help you manipulate enemies, kill them outright, or even move around better. so while you do see most of the game's content after finishing a run a single time, the amount of ways yo…
I got this game at a 65% discount and got value for that. I beat the game within an hour and a half and didn't really feel like doing more runs after. There's not too much strategic depth to the game because the decision space is pretty small and there's nothing really in the way of putting together interesting builds. Still, it's reasonable for what it is and I can't complain about the purchase.
