About Emanate
Gameplay
Emanate is a 'to the top' style of platformer, meaning it's a single-level, vertical world. If you fall, you'll have to retrace your steps to get back to where you were and continue making progress! The game starts slow and steady, then builds up to a fiercely challenging platformer towards the end, with a multitude of mechanics to memorize and adapt to. These mechanics appear in front of you as you move, keeping you on your toes as you climb to the top.

The most common mechanics you'll encounter are the orange/red bounce pads, purple wall-jump pads, and the fading platforms, that vanish from under your feet after a very short amount of time. Combining these simple mechanics urges you to keep moving forward, making for some incredibly challenging and intense platforming gameplay.

What to expect
- Moody, atmospheric environments: Starting from the bedrock of oblivion, up through deep ethereal forests and vast looming clouds, to huge other-worldly cathedrals.
- Fast, exciting soundtrack: An ambient, break-techno tracklist that increases in speed and intensity as you progress through the game.
- Emanation orbs: In normal mode, you have three chances per checkpoint to learn the patterns ahead of you. If you fall, expend an orb and you'll recall back to the last checkpoint you activated. Any misstep after your orbs are gone and you'll find yourself falling back down below.
Or, for the braver souls, hard mode strips you of this ability, leaving you to face the consequences of your missteps and blunders each and every time.

Emanate is a 3d foddian game that is a bit hard to control at first since you are really fast, but you get used to it and when mastered, is really fun to play. You unlock a double jump early on and a triple jump around 60%. The map is really punishing in the first half, but you can play on a "easy" mode where you can use 3 checkpoint per section, although they disappear forever once used. The game also add new game mechanic every section. However, that's where the cons start. I still liked the game but i will list a lots of cons that might turn you off. Most of the new gameplay element are in a punishing place when you first try it so you have a good chance of falling when learning the mechanic which really isn't ideal. There is no shadow under you to know where to land which is criminal for a game released in 2022 when sm64 had it in 1996. Most of the level design consist of platform that only appear when you are close, for the most part, you can guess where they are but it's still a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ way to increase the difficulty as you have to react to most thing on the first time and remember where the obstacle were to make it easier on the later try. And this will apply to falls t…3 found this helpful
Part of my series of one sentence reviews: Genuinely a hidden gem, simple mouse and keyboard platforming through beautiful painting-esque environments.3 found this helpful
Tricky but super fun3 found this helpful
totally forgot i picked this up on discount, and managed to beat it in 2 sessions. there are some odd technical issues, like your volume and inputs being reset every time you relaunch the game. lots of the platforming involves suddenly appearing platforms, so there is a lot of trial and error. the flow state in this was pretty fun though, even the super fast-paced final section. p.s. you can cheese the checkpoint system in the normal mode by simply exiting to the menu and reopening the game when you're by one of the checkpoints. current best time is 26:192 found this helpful
