Eternal Space

Eternal Space is a real doozy. It's an eternal Early Access game that was supposed to be a low quality vector art space colony building game, but if you launch the game you get a procgen copy+pasted medieval city builder. So... whatever the developer is doing, and I note they haven't explained any of this, it seems highly suspicious and possibly a scam (and this is backed up by the way they are pushing every avenue to sell keys for the game... more on that later). The game has been in Early Access since 2022 and while it's still getting updates, it's deep in Development Hell. There's no reasonable expectation that this will ever be completed, based on the bizarre genre switch of the game. Whether the developer lacks the time, funds, or skill/talent required to complete a video game isn't really something gamers should be expected to accept as an excuse. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality…
