I honestly wanted to like this game, but I don't. While it is initially interesting, it falls flat on its face later on. It has the typical problem many 4x games have: bloated, overcomplicated spreadsheet UI which despite that, does not even give you all the important information you actually need. Most of the gameplay is windows that you open and close. What is it with 4X games and their obsession with micro-management? First time players are greeted by a ridiculous amount of pop up tutorials that you have to read through. Story only exists to give the game a setting, never gets developed and is essentially the same for every faction. Destroy everything. Diplomacy, like in almost every 4X game, is just a pointless distraction that never really works anyway. The AI cheats. Heavily. Expanded your Empire, have you? Well, the AI declared war on you and it keeps sending doom stacks of dozens of fleets at you while you didn't even have time to create a proper fleet. I might be done with 4X games. It's always the same.

A truly great game, but buy its sequal 1000 times out of a 1000. Its the grown up; this is the toddler.
Endless Space and Endless Space 2 are enjoyable. I'm not shure why I sometimes prefer Endless Space to it's sequel, but I like to take it out for a few games every once in a while.
