About Everwarder

In Everwarder there's you, and a procedurally-generated world covered in darkness. Touch it - and it will spawn a creature that will try to destroy your most precious thing – a crystal with your friend trapped inside.

Every run starts with your crystal and a supply of energy. Then it's up to you how to fight the darkness. Do you steadily expand, clearing the darkness, harvesting its energy, and carefully deploying defenders to deal with whatever emerges from the dark? Or do you play it fast and loose, striking out to locate ancient structures and powerful artifacts hidden within?

Failure is just another word for learning. With every run you gather minerals and unlock new options on the upgrade tree, allowing you to become stronger and last longer against the darkness. After all, time is not on your side: Enemies grow stronger as the seconds tick on - but so do you, gathering new resources, boosts, and upgrading your defenders to last just a bit longer.

Every run is randomly generated, with its own set of challenges and twists that will keep you on your toes. Every upgrade tweaks the experience, creating various synergies. So even if you struggle to keep up with the pressure, there’s always a way to turn the tides of the battle!

This game is an absolute chore to play, and at no point was I having fun. Less than 40% of players currently have the achievement for completing a single run, because doing so is a tedious slog without enough information to be able to battle against the haphazard randomness and dull design. I am disappointed to have spent 2 hours playing this game, as I feel that was time wasted. But at least I'm one of the <40% to have actually beaten the first level. Uninstalled, hidden, and at some point I might see this in my hidden games and remove it from my library so that I never accidentally play it again.

While this is not a bad game, I can't recommend it. It's a massive grind. There is only 3 levels that you need to replay over and over to get materials in order to upgrade your meta-progression to become stronger and you essentially just need to play the same levels over and over to level yourself up until you can beat the harder levels. I do admit that the game's graphics and visuals are stunning and the gameplay loop itself is quite interesting. I especially like how getting an artifact is dependent on the unit's gems. But after a few hours it just becomes repetitive. I think it says a lot that only 7% of all players have the achievement to "play 10 games"

Everwarder, developed by qLate and published by indie.io and Paras Games, is a compelling hybrid that expertly weaves together elements of tower defense, roguelite, and survival genres to create a fresh and dynamic strategic experience. Set within procedurally generated environments, the game challenges players to defend a mystical crystal imprisoning a trapped spirit, but it does so with a twist: rather than simply waiting for waves of enemies, players actively control the pace of combat by exploring the world, uncovering hidden areas, and gathering resources. This approach breaks the conventional tower defense mold, encouraging a proactive and tactical playstyle that keeps each run unpredictable and engaging. The gameplay of Everwarder revolves heavily around resource management and adaptive strategy. As players venture deeper into the game’s neon-infused world, they must carefully place defenses while balancing exploration and combat. The procedural generation ensures that no two playthroughs are the same, with constantly shifting layouts, enemy types, and challenges demanding continuous adjustment of tactics. This unpredictability adds a layer of intensity and excitement, as p…

I cannot lie,i like this game very much, isnt like other tower defence i played and it gets grindy(for me its a good think).the point of the game begin around 3 diferent maps that u can play and farm for each diferent material, adn them upgrade your loadout and the gra[hic style is just beatiful. From other point of view for 5-10 euros you can get +50h of playing if you get into it,i would like more game of this same dev and ill hope he gets the attention he deserves.

A short roguelite defense game that forces you to balance your time and resources per run. There's only a tutorial and 3 main maps which are all procedurally generated, and most of the gameplay is just about unlocking and upgrading meta progression. Overall, bite-sized fun, but it feels a bit shallow gameplay-wise.

Bought this not expecting much, particularly disliking the luck-based Roguelike format. I was pleasantly surprised. This plays oddly similar to the Creeper World series, but definitely its own flavor. You can complete maps at your own pace, but that doesn't mean you want to, because slower pace eventually brings stronger enemies and lower resource efficiency, ultimately, plus the map sections will regrow over time. My main complaint would be unit balance to this point, as the expensive starters can't even get off the ground most of the time, and considering they replace each other outright, I'd rebalance for equal upgrade pacing on all paths. I played on Steam Deck acceptably well, but I have a custom input build highlighting frequent KB/M hotkeys, including B, F, 1-4, and maybe a few others. Once it got rolling, the inputs felt intuitive enough, but some tinkering may be necessary. B enters building mode (I think?), which cuts gameplay speed to about 1/4, I guess, and you can abuse this to get your bearings when adjusting, or just put out a nasty fire before you die. I got this cheap, but am glad this broke through my backlog. No storyline to speak of, but I found it to be an e…
