About everybody's sad

everybody's sad is a a weird, therapeutic, kinetic VR experience about learning to balance self care and care for others. Use intuitive motion and pose-based controls to make sad, alive objects happy! But who will make you happy?

We wanted to provide players with an experimental VR experience that pushes the envelope of what VR games can be. By making players use their voices and bodies in new ways, we provide them with a more immersive experience in which they can discover the delicate balance between caring for others and themselves. Through this game, we wanted to emphasize the importance of balancing caring for others and caring for yourself, as well as innovating what games can do in VR.

"everybody's sad" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from UCSC in the USA. This is an academic exercise, not a professional game. While it has more quality than most amateur games, it is not a complete gaming experience. Student projects have limited value for gamers because they're not fully developed games, just barely functional demos that show the students progress. Steam is not a place for for-profit colleges to dump student homework assignments... and having thousands of these is not good for gamers. The students decided they are psychologists and made a crap VR tech demo where you can interact with "sad" things in your apartment. Look, I'm no psychologist and unlike UCSC students, I don't pretend to be one, but if your furniture starts talking to you, you have bigger mental health problems than depression. Anyway this isn't really a game, no game loops, but you can wave your arms around in VR and have bogus psychology thrown at you. That really isn't a game, is it. I feel bad for the students... no respectable employer would hire them if this is their portfolio piece... and why does their portfolio piece need to get shoved on Steam …

Even though this game is as old as it is, I still think it’s great and has held up well. I would recommend any VR player to try it. It’s truly lovely.

Cool little apartment with talking objects, yeah most are sad, some are inspirational, others are just plain mean!

this game just doesn't work: 1. i spawned outside the map, 2, for some reason pressing the grab button teleports you randomly across the room and even outside the map from which you cant teleport back in to, 3. the controls were assigned seemingly at random...why is the teleport on the stick, 4. there aren't any turning controls in this game... this game seemed interesting, but the execution is really bad, just play something else. This was played on the quest 3s
